I saw this the other day. What interested me was his draw was +2 degrees and his fade was -5(attack angles). I would've thought the other way if anything.

Swing path of Inside-to-Outside (Draw) seems like more of an ascending blow to me (hitting up on the ball).  So +2 sounds right.

Swing path of Outside-to-Inside (Fade) seems like more of a descending blow (hitting down on the ball)... So -5 sounds right too.

As we know, the draw (with an ascending blow) will emit top spin and go further.  Thus the +2.

Tigers average club head speed is around 118mph.  This club head speed combined with a +2 angle of attack is why he can bomb it.

That's true but not if you keep the same baseline and plane. All else NOT equal, it's typically easier to come steeper into the ball when you swing left and to swing up on the ball while sending the clubhead path well to the right by letting your arms fly off your torso.

But again from a pure geometry standpoint, path right would be negative angle of attack and vice versa.

Draws don't go farther, and they definitely don't have topspin. No properly struck golf shot (excluding the putter) has topspin.

Sorry a draw, with a greater attack angle emits less spin than a fade with a lower attack angle, correct?

Yes generally, but not necessarily. Spin is primarily determined by dynamic loft and angle of attack.

So if I hit a shot with AoA -2 and a dynamic loft of 8 that's 10. That shot will spin LESS than a shot hit with +2/13 (easy to get if the driver shaft is leaning back a little at impact).

The reporters were all into Tiger's Trackman numbers.  It was a little surreal since the vast majority of viewers have no clue what they were talking about.  And then we have traj...

    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
