Got my first one today - was just playing a casual round alone, when getting ready for a chip on the 16th Par 5, i see our local golf pro signalling me to play through on 17 since he is with a student. So i chip my ball and dont even care to pick it up, figuring on the way back its shorter to get it. Rush to the 17th tee box, hit a little faded 6iron into the 180y par 3, lands a couple inches left of the flag and it spins in...

I was never happier in my life to hit a fade than at this very occassion :)

Summer 1999.

Beacon Lakes Golf Club, hole #7, 150 yards; the green is surrounded by water.

I hit an 8-iron and practically screamed "that's in the hole!" as soon as the ball took flight. It landed four or five feet in front of the pin and rolled right in.

I was only 19 years old, so no beer tab in the clubhouse. I had a couple of buddies with me, and I'm sure I paid for a round of Diet Cokes...so...Diet Coke tab: $4.50.

Apart from a few 5 footers - the closest that I ever came to getting one was on a course that I play quite often, but not all the time.

Par 3 - 90 Yard - elevated tee (sounds harder than described with sand to the right of the Green and Trees to the left)

The shot itself was a fluke and I shanked it to the left where it hit a tree and then rolled over the hole at some pacce
wit it stopping 3 feet from the hole.
So, my only near attempt at a Hole 1 was a complete mistake :)

i guess in response to this... i hit a hole in one at a par 3 course, so i'm not sure how legit, people see that as. 145 yards, 8 iron, 10 feet of elevation over a pond that is about 25 yards long in front of the box. Back Nine Club, Lakeville, MA. hole #14

this was the weekend before thanksgiving and a spontaneous idea between my friend and i to go play. i borrow a set of clubs from my buddy's dad, go buy a glove at the pro shop, don't even have my golf shoes. all through the day i'm hitting fairly decent by my standards, mostly bogeys with some pars. come up to this hole, cigarette in the mouth, thin the tee shot, barely clear the pond by 5 feet. i'm thinking at least it didn't drop in, the ball is rolling up the fairway and next thought is it might just make the green. ball is now on the green and i'm fairly happy with the outcome. buddy and i see the ball catch a slight slope and is going towards the pin, in my mind i actually thought it had a chance to drop, and bam, we hear the ping of the flag and the ball disappears.

sure it was an ugly ugly shot, but imagine the feeling of hitting an amazing shot 2 inches from the hole, and multiply that by 50. that's what it was like. whether you bought that scratch ticket and won 1million or found it in the trash, you still won 1 million dollars. on that note, it doesn't feel like a legit hole in one, and i hope if i hit another it'll have a more typical ball flight and i won't be as surprised. can't take away that feeling though.

Had already 3 like this this season ........

Shot a 93 yesterday ...... pfffff but at the 12th 170 par 3 I hit a perfect shot, actually a little long, bounced a few yards before the hole and would be way over, but hit the pin and dropped down ...... 2 inches from the hole.

A few weeks ago same hole, perfect shot - high spin ball - landed 2 meters short of the hole, rolled towards the hole, went in and lipped and ended a few inches inch left of the hole

And about two months ago at our 8th 160 Par 3 that has a green and a 140 yds carry over a big lake, hit my teeshot in the water, I decided to hit a new ball, teed up a little lower and hit it straight into the hole, nice par !!!

About time to stop playing this stupid game !!!

I still have not had one but I have been about as close as you can be without it being official.  It was on the 3rd hole at Pumpkin RIdge (Ghost Creek Course) from about 150 or 160.  Here is the hole...

hole_3.jpg

I hit it and was surprised that it was going straight at it.  To my shock the ball landed in the hole on the fly and bounced out to about 2 feet away.  When we walked up to the green the front lip of the hole was completely bent into the cup.  All I could do was laugh being so close to getting my first one.

That's the only course I've ever had one on

Hopefully I can change that someday. I've been close a few times though. I've never had an eagle yet, i just can't handle the pressure of an eagle putt which is why I just need to fly it into the hole on a par 3! Also I'm a little scared to get a hole in one, as i cannot afford to buy anyone drinks...

I think I got my high score ever in skeeball that day too. Where did I go wrong...

Some hole-outs on par-4s, but no aces since I started playing a lot in 2006.  More than I can count to inches, but none actually in the cup.  I don't get a lot of roll on my irons, so it just may not be in the cards for me unless I zip it back a lot on accident or I'm hitting a flier.

I haven't had one yet... I'm kind of afraid that I'll get my first as a single with nobody around as a play alone a lot now.

Spring 2007. Invited on Stanwich CC in Greenwich, CT. We get to the 16th Hole. 170 yards, slightly elevated green. Went with a 7-iron and and the ball started out a little right of the flag, but drew back and was all over the pin. It landed at the top of the false front, one-hopped, and disappeared. Because of the elevation, I thought it might have gone over, but my friend who plays there was certain it was it. Sure enough, it was there at the bottom of the cup.

2010, Par 3 Hole 7 150y.
Hit a PW with a little draw and slam dunked it.

Out for a casual round with my dad and brother.  To top it off, it was one of the first times I was able to shoot under par, so the score card looked good all around.

Where: Camp Red Cloud Golf Course, Camp Red Cloud, Republic of South Korea

When: Summer 1995

Distance: 118 yds

Club: PW

Two funny things about this Ace.  First, I was stationed over seas and had not taken my golf clubs, so I was playing with borrowed clubs.  Second, I never saw it go in: it one hopped right into the hole.  We looked for it off the back of the green for at least five minutes before one of the other guys in the group went and looked in the hole.

I've had many close calls, but that is my only one so far.

Finally WITNESSED a hole in one! Their was a girls high school golf tournament today and the boys golf team had to work it. I was sitting on the 14th tee because if someone got a hole in one they got a $10,000 scholarship. Had a couple close calls but finally going on four hours of watching a girl hit one, hit on the front of the green, hopped once, hopped twice, IN THE HOLE! She said it was her first hole in one...what a time to get it!

Now all that's left is for me to get one!
