Just got back from a lesson with iacas

And it was awesome. I asked for a full swing and short game lesson and we got out on a course and Erik pretty much showed me every short game situation in the book plus some interesting ball flight laws insight. Plus I got on the Trackman. Shameless plug on ** if you are ever out in the Erie, PA area, get thee to Golf Evolution, you won't regret it! ** shameless plug off :-)

Anyways, swing lesson details - Erik made a slight adjustment to my grip and my downswing - #3 (Flat Wrist) was better straight away, but got some work to do on it.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I'm sure Erik is a great teacher but I prefer my teach to have a more of an inside-out teaching method.  Something that feels instinctual and natural to me so I will never get hurt.  I don't want my head full of junk like ball flight laws and power accumulators...

Funny. :)

FWIW the #3 he was talking about was Key #3, not #3 accumulator.

And we don't talk ball flight laws in every lesson, but we did talk about why Steven's path was often a little too straight into the ball and why he could then hit balls that pulled and drew or pushed and cut from there depending on the face conditions. Basically, not a pattern, where we'd prefer to see a pattern where every ball does the same thing (whether that's "pushes and draws" or "pushes and cuts" or "pulls and cuts" or whatever).

BTW, Steven did AWESOME work on the short game. Seriously, I felt mean a few times putting him in some bunkers 15 feet below the level of the green off firm packed sand on a downslope and then I felt a lot LESS mean when he hits two shots from that spot to 3 and 2 feet! And pitching the ball off firm wet dirt (like sticky hardpan if that makes sense) was a breeze, and so forth. The short game work he did was incredible and amazing.

And his full swing is really good. Some little things to tweak with Keys #2 and #3 but really pretty close.

Appreciated that you came from NYC again Steven. Thanks, and be proud of the work you did, and keep looking at the pictures you have. Right arm pitches too!

Though I haven't had hands on experience with Erik or anyone at GE, the instruction I received thorugh Evolvr was certainly useful. Nice to hear you had a good experience. Now remember to do the work on the range yourself, that's where the changes are done.

Yes. And Steven, it's really easy to do the changes indoors when there are no targets, etc. Keep that same mentality on the range and the shots will begin to get better on their own. Obviously I'm not saying just bash away, but just to be unconcerned - particularly when doing drills, etc. - with contact, where the ball's going, etc. Some drills are exaggerations, some screw with your normal rhythm or tempo or whatnot, so work hard as I know you can and the golf will get better.

P.S. And that's not to say it's not pretty good now. Just keep improving, even 0.1% at a time.

Thanks for the referral. At $125 an hour, 4 lessons would cost me $500. I don't have that kind of dough, although it would probably be worth it. You get what you pay for sometimes.

      Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.

      I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.

      I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.

      Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.

      IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
