Torrey Pines is awesome!  worth every penny!

North Course is $110 weekday.

Called for a tee time a few months ago and they said it was a 2 month wait (not a year).. so i just walk on.  As a single, I have no problem getting out in a reasonable time.  I even saw a 2some get out from the wait list without a problem...

Hey guys, I may be going over to The States some time next year and staying with non golfing friends in San Diego, I was wondering if any of you could suggest some good courses for my to play whilst I'm there, i'm only around a 24 handicap so they don't need to be tough and ideally not too expensive! the nearest one to where I'd be staying is Mission Trails.

Hey everyone,

I figured I would revive this thread instead of making a new one seeing as the subject is pretty much the same. My name is Yashar and I joined the forum pretty recently. Love what I'm reading so far - everybody is incredibly helpful with their advice on any and all subjects. I have a goal of shooting 85 by February 2015 - shooting in the high 90s right now.

Anyways, I will be down in San Diego from December 19-26th to visit some family. Have read some great stuff on courses for out of towners so far and was wondering if anybody has updates to this list? Also, I'm really the only golfer in my family so I will be going solo for as many rounds as my body can take while I'm there. If anybody is looking for a 4th or is simply feeling generous enough to show me what San Diego has to offer golf wise, I would love to join and meet some new people while I'm down there.

I'd like to keep the rounds below the $100 mark. Obviously if I have an opportunity to experience something that's one of a kind I don't mind breaking that rule.

Calling and getting a tee time .... Chances are slim. Walking on as a single on a Thursday and (perhaps) waiting a bit ... Chances are pretty good, I'd say.

No go on calling for a tee time. Guy on the phone said I shouldn't have much trouble walking on. I was worried I'd have to get there at like 5am or earlier, but he said, as a single, I should be able to get out with no trouble Thursday morning. Hope it's worth the extra $83 vs the North Course!

The Crossings in Carlsbad is a good challenging course, watch out for the planes flying over head.

Maderas is a nice course as well.

Played the North Course as the South had tournament this morning. Teed off right away. Too soon actually as I didn't have a chance to even putt. Enjoyed the round and the course. Will be back to SD, so I'll take on the South next time.

Welcome! I'm from the San Diego area myself. BENtSwing32's golf course list pretty much covers San Diego golf. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how far you want to drive. I'd recommend you look into a JC Golf membership. JC Golf owns 7 courses around San Diego, and their membership is a great deal if you plan to golf regularly.
