Confession: some days I don't really mind all that orange, or all that hair - but then later I think better of it. Still, variety is the spice of life etc etc and Rickie is an exemplar in many other ways so I cut him a break. Maybe he'll learn - before he ties the knot???

But I'm not sure how wearing pink supports Mother's Day. And I'm fairly certain most people are aware of breast cancer by this point, and further "awareness" does nothing to assist in its medical treatement. But if you want to buy into the corporate mentality that the only way to support these causes is to be a docile little consumer ***** and deck out in all pink, go right ahead.

If wearing pink makes the public think of breast cancer then the clothes have done their job. I don't see why anyone would be against this. It's OK to have issues with the Komen people but to rip on the idea of raising awareness for a killer disease makes no sense at all.

I'll make one off-topic post and be done with it. The killer disease for women is not breast cancer. Heart disease kills 4-10 times as many women every year, depending on what data you read. If we're truly concerned about womens' health, that is the issue we should be focusing on.

No...Cmon there is nothing wrong with Fowler's clothes. They are just bright and colorful. And Furyk isn't bad. He looks his best in black IMO. John Daly kind of pisses me off because other people who wear crazy clothes (Ian Poulter for example...my favorite) make sure that they actually MATCH. Daly's pants never match and just look stupid.

Almost every educated person has a reasonable awareness of breast cancer. How does wearing pink raise it, exactly? It represents an appeal for money regarding one particular tumor type - forget 'awareness'.

Note from the weekend - it's easier to look classy when the weather calls for pants and a sweater . . . and then there's Furyk.

Furyk looked bad this weekend and his 5 hour energy hat is just hideous.

John Daly obviously is on the list.

I would have to put Phil in at third.

Kind of surprised nobody has mentioned Dufner yet. His sponsor patches look like he taped them to a shirt he bought at the thrift store on the way to the course. I really don't mind the flamboyant guys, Rickie et al. A worse fashion crime is the Mister Rogers look so many 30 somethings on the tour seem to be fond of.

Dave :-)

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
