Tiger, Rickie & Mahan each roll in easy breezy 2's on 17 - none probably more than 10 feet (Hunter at just over 2 feet)

next up Stenson, Toms & O'Hair and they cover the green from front to back and side to side, Toms being the closest at 20 feet

it is fun having Live @ 17 up and running on the other monitor.

Players play, tough players win!

Apparently DA Points withdrew with back spasms, but only after the other members of his group teed off, and thus first alternate Brian Harman couldn't take his place.

They just reported that Kevin Na doubled because his tee shot got stuck in top of a Palm Tree... Therefore he had to play it as a lost ball... Go back to the tee box and tee off again.

DA stated that he had back spasms which started up ~ 25mins before his tee time.  He went to the trailer where they have trainers and first aid, to see if he could get his back worked on.  Then went to the first tee and took a few practice swings and decided he couldn't play and withdrew on the first box.  There wasn't enough time to get Brian Harman, the first alternate out - as the other two players in DA's group had already tee'd off.

The good news... They're reporting on Golf Channel that the tournament has announced that Brian Harman (first alternate) will get to play.  They are going to send him out as a single after the last threesome tee's off today.

Looking at Shot Tracker, Mahan didn't miss a fairway his first 8 holes, then suddenly he hit it into the water on 18 (his ninth hole today), and has only hit a couple of fairways since, with some of his drives going way, way off line. I wonder if he pulled a muscle or something. Edit: they just showed him hitting on 8 (his 17th), and I didn't see any restriction in his swing. I guess he just had an off day.

Tiger can't blame his putting today:  28 putts, but only 50% GIR and fairways.  If they cut down today he'd miss by 2; he still only 3 shots behind Rory though, who's at T37.  Tight field I guess.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
