She can be good, without all the outside "help". I think her mentors should stay at home and let her play in the LPGA. The PGA is too tough for seasoned golfers, let alone a teenaged child! I hope she is not screwed-up too bad by the influence she is having to endure.

Well said

My money is on Annika!!

F Annika. If they ever start to test the LPGA for steriods, she'd be in trouble.

Well I must say +11 for a +14 overall.....too bad she didn't do one poorer yesterday so she could have missed the cut and avoided this embarrassment. But at least she finished the round this time :D

She is a spoiled little brat, plain and simple. Her over-bearing parents and endorsement driven handlers are a disgrace. The fact that she makes over $19 million a year for not even being able to break par at an LPGA event is disgusting. GoingfortheGreen is correct in saying that this incident stinks.

LoL, that is some madness going around.. I mean she is good enough.. you are right abou the Golf dosen't care part though.. I think it's impressive to play in those kinds of tournaments :)

+21 is anything but impressive. I would think after a showing like that, she and her parents would want to reconsider the John Deere invite even if it is a month away.

She finished dead last; it's clear 'something' isn't right. Whatever it is, I don't think it hurts to pack it up for a bit and try to fix things.

She has a lot more talent than +21, so it's pretty clear that something's up.

Yeah, I agree something clearly isn't right. But she just took a bunch of time off with her injury so I think this is something she has to work out playing

LPGA events. If she still is injured, well that's a different story but I think most will agree that probably isn't the case anymore. I think she's just f'ed up mentally and has to compete in tournaments right now and do so by attracting as little attention as possible for someone who already gets a ton of attention. And notice the emphasis on LPGA, I don't think playing the John Deere will help right now.

To go from top 5 last year to last this year says the injury is not fully healed. She does need to shut it down and get right. She will be fine once she gets healthy. I would agree that she should skip the John Deere unless she is 100%. Men's tournaments tend to play with thicker rough on tougher layouts. The risk/reward is way too high.

She finished dead last

... among those who made the cut. I agree it's not great, but it's not "dead last" either.

People rip her for not being good enough and never winning at any level. The thing is, she has always moved up quickly and competed at a level above where she really should be. Whether it was the LPGA as a 14-15 year old or against the men. The question is does playing against better competition make you better? I think it's a good thing to play against the best. When she gets healthy and then gets back in against players of her level, in this case the LPGA, she will be better off. And before you say she is not at the level of the LPGA players now I said when she is healthy. She proved last year before the injuries that she can compete at that level. She was one bad approach from not only being in a playoff for a major, but winning it outright.

personally, I think this whole playing against the best thing is overrated for golf. She's only playing harder courses by playing against men. All it does is make her look like a worse player by not making cuts.

She needs to win and get the feeling of winning...that will help you improve. If she continually is losing by a bunch because she's trying to play against men or in events over her head, then she'll miss out on all the opportunities to win and keep leads. That's why Tiger dominates so much now...he's done it his whole life. He knows how to keep a lead, how to overpower the field. She doesn't get any of that. She's choked in her tournaments with the women when she got close to winning and most of it goes back to never being in that position. It's not like tennis where you are playing against someone. You are playing the course and measuring yourself by how you play.

I agree with you that she would be better off playing against women. However, she is only allowed to play in so many tournaments because she is not a member of the tour. Had she been elligible, her earnings from official events last year would have more than qualified her for full status on tour this year. Until she is 18 she can't be a full tour memebr and has to play where and when she can. Playing on tougher courses will only better prepare her for the LPGA courses. Playing in the John Deere would be a much better test for her game than the CIGNA Golf Classic. That's the Futures Tour Event the same week. And, yess, I did look that up. I am not that big of a loser that I would actually be able to name an event, much less the one that was concurrent to the John Deere. I would assume that once she is 18 and has earned her status on tour, she will play far more with the ladies than she will with the guys.

Until she is 18 she can't be a full tour memebr and has to play where and when she can.

That is not entirely true. Ms. Wie et al. have never petitioned the LPGA for full membership, so it has never been denied/granted. The LPGA made a ruling on Morgan Pressel's application, and allowed her to join the tour full time at age 17.

If Michelle was so committed to the LPGA, she could have made a formal application to allow her to become a member before age 18. Given her prior performance, this most certainly would have been granted...

    • Day 133 - Played 9 again. Driver was great, putting was better, but shots inside 100 were awful.
    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
