Real golfer will swim out to the green . . . but the PGA will allow Casey Martin to have a boat.

Let the debate begin!!!

I hear that the storm is giving them an average 2 inches of rain per day for the last few days. Mostly because the storm is moving 3mph or is stationary. Not sure if their drainage system can handle all that rain.

Florida needs to send us some rain like that here in Denver.

But I could still hit the green no problem!

Great drainage would be no match for a tropical storm or hurricane I wouldn't think.

Is the tiny bunker just completely swallowed up? I don't see it. :-) It's supposed to be pretty much opposite the walkway. It could be just the camera angle, but I believe that's one of the low points.

Having lived in Tampa much of my life, including through Elena back in 1985, drainage doesn't mean anything when storm surge is involved.  We lived on a canal that led into Tampa Bay, and folks that sandbagged the backs of their houses got a nasty surprise when the storm drains backed up and water came through the front from the street.  With nowhere to go, water collects pretty quick when it's coming down like it has been down there.  From what I've heard, it was more like two inches an hour in some places.

Dude, it rained four days straight here due to Debby. And it's flat here - no place for the rain to go. Check back in two days...it will be back to normal.

Exactly. Mother Nature played through. It would be like me saying to Buffalo after a lake-effect snowstorm dumped 24 inches of snow on them, 'I'm surprised there's snow on the streets."

I've been directly hit by 3 hurricanes when I lived in Port St. Lucie, Fl - Frances, Jeanne in 2004 & Wilma 2005. There's nothing you can do. It overwhelms whatever 'man-made' system you have in place for drainage. But like I said, in two days that pond at Sawgrass will be back to normal.

Here was my, ahem, 'street' after Tropical Storm Fay -

Heh, I remember my mom telling me, "Don't go anywhere, stay put". I said mom, if I want to go anywhere I need a boat!

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
