Depends on how loud the yell is.  I usually just duck my head and put my arms up over my head.  But if it is a loud yell... I'll dive to the ground.

I got some good advice once. When you hear someone yell fore run next to the flagstick, it is the safest place on the golf course. :-D

Haha. Funny

That's usually what I do when a wasp or hornet starts buzzing around my head.

Ha.  I hadn't thought of this ... but realistically, most fores I hear are as a result of one of my bad shots as well.  I guess I could have added one more answer option.

I cover my head, duck and hope for the best. Haven't been hit yet, just a few close calls.

arm helmet and back turned and hope I take it on the ass if I do wind up getting hit.
Just a reminder...make sure you cover up the base of your skull in the back.  Get hit there just right and you can be instantly dead.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

I think it's funny when you hit towards some people and yell fore, and all they do is run from where they were to another spot 10 yards away...they might be running right into the ball for all they know.

I just croutch and cover the brain..

Thanks ... I did not know that.  That's where my "arm helmet" is going to be from now on.

Maybe we should discuss the mechanics of the Arm Helmet.  It would be nice to have a diagram to illustrate, but I'll just have to describe:

I wrap my palm about the back part of my head (covering the base of my skull in the back), and my forearm lays over the top of my head, with my elbow pointing away from my forehead.  Basically, most of the back and top of my head is covered, and then the side of my face down to the shoulder.  This is the proper Arm Helmet technique.

You're welcome.

Look down, cover head with "arm helmet" (best new golf term I've heard in years) and turn my back to the sound.

If it seems real close, I'll also squat down and try to become small.

If you do a double arm-helmet, get down on the ground, tuck the knees into the chest, back of the calves firmly pressed against the hamstrings, and head facing down towards the knees, that is called the Roly Poly.

Man, this is getting technical! I'm going to try this at the range while I have a buddy toss balls at me while yelling fore. (This would make a great 'hidden camera' stunt to capture the looks on other people's faces...)

I squat and cover my head. If there is a tree close, I hide behind it. Although I did have a ball hit a tree and bounce back landing about a yeard from me. There is no where safe when playin golf.

this.

So many people I've played with look up to try and see the incomming high speed projectile.      Not a recommended practice ...

    • #2, Golf would get really boring if you only play Par 3's. Par 5s let you have a lot more strategy and design to play with.  Also.. as a short hitter I'm normally laying up on the 2nd shot.
    • I'm 22 days and 6 hours away from playing the Cradle.  Therefore I'm going with the Par 3 course!
    • Wordle 1,375 2/6* ⬜🟨⬜🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Purely a SWAG guess….back to back eagles….i know I’m headed to the land of 6 misses….
    • Interesting for sure. I have actually had my instructor try to get me to get the elbow in front as well. That actually spiraled me into the slump I am currently working out of. I would disagree with him saying that lowering the arm might be the simplest and easiest move in golf 😄. I am having SOO much trouble making that move instead of my hands immediately moving toward the ball from the top. It's like my mind has 0 patience at the top and tells me to GO GO GO.
