If you anchor a long putter against the chest or chin, or belly putter against the gut, you then create a motion that is not a stroke since the one end is not free to move.

Kutcher holds a putter like a normal grip, he just make sure the his grip touches his forearm, its a feel mechanism for him. There is still a chance for him to loose that contact if the stroke breaks down. Anchoring in the other fashion makes this impossible.

Also wouldn't rule out Adam Scott's method or the other methods used by long putters... because they then anchored their hands or forearms to their bodies.

The anchor putter and even these new putters in my 12 years of playing golf, I am 26, ruin the whole aspect of the swinging of a club and to me isn't cheating but it is like giving yourself a mulligan! It makes things a little easier and takes away from the game in my opinion. Nobody deserves to get called names for have using one but they should be using a traditional sized putter with their choice of gripping the club in a particular way!

whileThis is almost as bad as when they banned the side saddle back in the day... I personally think that Odyssey's thinking is to just make more $$$... I wouldn't pay $200 for that kind of putter anyway... When I was in high school I could putt my way out of a blowup hole... Now at almost 26... I just got my putting touch back and I've tried absolutely everything from the broomstick to the belly putter to the claw to left hand low.... To a heavier putter... I recently went the Robert Garrigus route with a shorter putter... And it has worked beautifully... personally if guys on tour want to try the arm thing let them... It technically isn't against rule 14-1b... About anchoring your club to make a stroke..... Which leads to this... What about the old bellied sand wedge from just off the fringe... If I was anyone for this club... I would spend $10 and just get the loft on my putter bent to 7° and put a belly putter shaft in the club...and the single grip type long putter shaft... And call it an arm-lock putter... Incidently Matt Kuchar's putter already had these specs for a while now... The USGA and R&A; are just on a war path

Good point!! What about - your hands have to touch each other, and the putter can't touch anything other than your hands. Haha I'm determined to find a simple way of defining it!

No surprise with this. The rules cannot tell you how to grip a club if it remains non fixed. The club passes all rules and regulations. Players will always find a way to be comfortable on the golf course.
