L arm closer to body, lay down shaft on DS, keep L wrist facing sky post impact. Focus mainly on L arm.

Looks like a real gloomy day there!  Looking good. Are you doing any palmar flexion from A4 to 5 or is your right elbow helping lay down the shaft?  I ask because I am working on something similar.

Thanks. Not trying anything w/elbow, but trying to keep L arm closer to body may be doing something to elbow. With the lead wrist, yes, palmar flexing - swing thought is to make the clubhead stay behind me. Like the drill @iacas has prescribed to others here where you lay down the shaft just after starting DS. The feeling is that but even more. The more rotated I am @ 7, the more that clubhead feels behind me if I do it right. I'm not posting here all my crap swings there the hands go out and clubhead coming at ball from outside.

Getting a little better at combining shaft shallowing and pointing left hand to sky and long right arm post impact.

More open @ 7, no EE, but can't get L hand to point to sky, long R arm.

Those are great. Really, really good.

Thanks! Thinking hips forward up and left as well. Setting up another lesson with Preston.

Another productive lesson with @pcombs21 , get thee to Metedeconk, tri state area. Got path going out more to right, both iron and driver. Was getting mostly + path numbers towards the end maxing out around +5 and the dtl positions look better as well. Start of lesson was around -1, -2. Got a SAM putt lab analysis and altered path and face for putting stroke. Better aware of the putting stroke now, especially face to path during impact. Should have gotten the SAM analysis a long, long time ago.

Since last fall, basically more shallow from 4 and rotated at 7. I think the more rotated look at 7 is a good thing, 2 years ago, was basically throwing hands at ball at 7, arms fully extended. I think the more bent my right elbow is just before 7 and then a really fast extension post 7, w/hips more open while keeping inclination to the ground is a good thing.

Combining shaft laydown, L arm to body @4, long right pitch arm, L hand to sky post 7, don't hinge on BS, arm swing/less shoulders 7-8. Stand closer to ball. Looks funky. Hips backing up. Addressing issue w/Preston.

New things to work on from Preston. Working on backswing and flexion @ 7. Undid closer to ball. Starting shallow move earlier on BS, feels like cupped lead wrist to bowed from 1 to 4, staying in flexion @ 7. Slow easy swings so far.

Working on maintaining flexion from 6 to 7. No more wrist bow like in previous vid.

Think I'm bringing head/upper body closer to ball before start of downswing, so that leaves no room and spine straightens going into impact. Will try and get the feel of head moving to ball after the downswing.

Tooled around w/the head toward ball pre A4 movement, forget about it, just sticking w/basics, good A4 position, lay shaft down, retain flexion, left hand to sky, working to feel as comfortable w/driver as w/irons.

Start laying down shaft before 4, no arm overrun/shorten BS, left arm close to chest on DS, retain flexion, left hand to sky/long right arm (no so much here)

Lesson with @pcombs21 - worked on full swing overall and tweaked the driver. Improved swing feels like shoulders opening sooner, more "on top" of the ball, kind of over the top-ish.  Clubhead is taking a more direct line to the ball from dtl view. Retained flexion better w/o even thinking about it.

Haven't been playing very much, been a range rat and it shows. Can't quite bring the range swing to the course, especially with driver, really losing flexion from 5 onwards but I understand it's a process and takes time. Will start playing more and working on the driver - start lines and making it look like swing on left pane. And will try and video more course swings.

Course driver swing - shallow BS, steep DS. Right to right. Ewwwww.

Tried to do opposite at range afterwards, w/shoulders opening earlier and start line straight move from lesson.

Course and range swing very different.. Both thinking same pieces to work on. Course swing thought is right shoulder out, forward and down to target and more around, rotate. Range thought is the same, plus start line piece. And butt to wall behind, head to wall in front, anti-ee.

Notes to myself driver swing:

Takeaway from 1-2.5 wonky. Lots of space/air around left armpit. A bit lifty. Noticed this immediately after watching the swing vid so tried to keep L arm pinned to body more on takeaway for remaining drives - accuracy and distance stayed the same.

From 3.75 to 4, there's a steepening move, not a laydown move. Think this is because too focussed on getting the R shoulder out, forward and down to target and around and more over the ball.

Length of backswing much better, no arm runoff, extra wave. Maybe even a touch short. But same BS with shaft shallowing instead of steepening probably optimal.

Head is moving off the wall in front quite a bit. This is a thing w/swing. Accept it and minimize it. Almost all good players do this. Less so butt moving off the wall behind. Posterior remaining close to wall behind pretty good here.

Estimate that if swing was measured by radar, the face is around -2 to 2. Path is closed to face,  fade bias: 0 to -4? Don't care if fade or draw. As long as fairway is hit or have a playable approach and decent distance. This swing, face probably -1, -2, path probably -4?

Where to go from here. Keep the feel that is getting start line much less right. Stop steepening and do lay down move from 3.75. More head closer to ground feel. Scrunchy. Take more videos from tee. New priority piece next lesson.

Still not swinging all out, but close to it and feels like sequencing can be much improved. Way fewer unplayable/lost/OB drives now. More distance to be squeezed out hopefully. 3W and 2H off the deck way more playable as well.

    • Not really, no. I don't know the history, what you've worked on, what you've tried and moved away from… etc.
    • Day 9: 2/16/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Swing pressure shift drills.
    • Definitely not a favorite… For some reason my wife and I started watching Cobra Kai. I know the original was pretty cheesy, but the inability of these people to get over shit that happened like 30 years ago is astounding. And these kids would be arrested, but they don’t even seem to get suspended from school. Would Danny not notice that Johnny’s son looks like Johnny? Etc.? Why would a completely different dojo that has the same name be “banned”? Oy. Not sure we’ll make it to season 2.
    • Day 139 - 2025-02-16 Weather led to a rescheduled GEARS lesson, so I used the time to work on my swing for 60 minutes or so. All downswing stuff. Some swings at 93 MPH. Most around 75-80.
    • A question I have is…this swing (fade, pull cut) does not  feel as good and easily repeatable as the draw swing we were working on previously.  I’m kinda in a weird spot where I do not know which direction will be the best to pursue. I like seeing a penetrating 5 yard draw but also like the thought of the fade not getting away from me as much.    Any thoughts on that?
