Details of Bubba's hook wedge: face -0.5, path 12, loft 21 and his description of how he hit it

The audio is awful - you'll need to turn up the volume.

Do the numbers make sense? I think Bubba said closed stance, hood face and roll wrists, please correct me if I'm wrong. But if he "rolled" his wrists, wouldn't his face be much more closed?

Sounds about right, but I'm not sure what they measured the numbers relative to. Not the target, and not the start line either. I'd be curious to know what those were, because if it was relative to target it'd probably be more like -15° clubface, -27.5° path, and if it was start line I'd expect the clubface to be more right-pointing than that because the path is only going to be about 80% at that dynamic loft and clubhead speed.

Sports Science did a cool analysis on this,

If you look at 2:03, sports science has the angle between his swing path to clubface at about 23.5 degrees closed. He actually had an open stance. I think Bubba hits all his shots with an open stance :p

I think it's off... if you watch closely the "target line" looks like it is going to the tree/towards the flag, not left of the tree.

I get the hook and all, but I can't grasp a 163 yard 52*.

It wasn't 52* though. Aren't they saying loft at impact was 21*, so he de-lofted the club? Or am I understanding that wrong?

De-loft or not it was one of the shortest clubs in his bag!

Very cool. I hit my 52 wedge 140 but cant imagine getting another 25 yards out of it!

I have the opposite problem. I just can't seem to hit my 52 any less than 175.

I didn't know that was physically possible. That's impressive.

When i skull one, i can get a 52 to go 300 yards during the summer, when it hasn't rained in two weeks, the ground is hard as concrete :p
