Thanks I have a long way to go to look as good as you but I'm working on it.

Looks can be deceiving. What matters is the numbers on the score card. I'm hoping that all the work I've put in over the off-season will show up on the score card but as of this moment, I'm a 20 something and you're a 14. Keep up the hard work though, I think getting that key#1 in order is going to make everything else a LOT easier for you.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Yes definitely better, nice work.

I would start to focus more on Key #2. Not seeing the weight get forward enough.

- First thing I would do is widen the stance a little more, like an inch or two on each side. Will help with the transfer forward and limit the amount the left knee moves inward on the backswing. Would like to see that left knee rotate inward less so it's easier to press into on the downswing.

- Not enough transfer

- Need to add more pressure into the ground, more flex in the left knee.

Great feel/drill to work on

Thank you Mike. I will start on key 2 now. I didn't want to get ahead of myself so I've basically only worked on steady head.

Cool, you'll probably be working on Keys 1 and 2 for a bit ;-)

Im completely fine with that. Im very happy with the progress Ive made on key 1.  Im going to start working on the drill above tomorrow.  I know I have a long way to go but its a marathon not a sprint so Ill keep grinding away.  I really appreciate all the help.

I was messing around with the drill above and I was wondering if that step down and knee going forward and down is how I should be initiating my down swing?

Yep exactly, watch these guys. Check out how their left knee moves initially on the downswing and how they "press" into the ground.

I'm really struggling with a feel for key 2. I do ok with the drill above but I can only get to about a 1/2 swing. I've been to the range a few times this week and for some reason I haven't been able to get it in my full swing. I start hitting the mat before the ball. I also feel like I'm losing my balance and have to step with my back foot. Any ideas?

If you want to meet up sometime, I would be happy to help. I am guessing you may be squating down and not getting the piece to shallow out the club before impact.

Sounds good to me. Where have you been hitting balls? The only place I know of that's open is national golf center.

Sounds like the head may be going forward on the downswing/followthrough. @cipher can double check. Yes the weight goes forward but you also keep your head steady. What helps you do this is that you "press" into the ground and then "thrust" with the legs and hips.

@Jakester23 I can bring my 120 fps camera and we can get some good video as well.  I think @mvmac has it pegged and we can verify.  PM me sometime to let me know when you usually get off work and we can meet up.

I went to the range I hope this is better. I feel like key 1 is still staying decent.  Im trying to get weight forward and some push off the ground.

Did it help the problems of hitting the matt before the ball and losing your balance?

Yes sir. I also felt like I has hitting the ball very solid.  I was messing around on analyzr and my knee was moving forward and my waist was going more up than just straight ahead.  What do you think?

    • You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.
    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.

It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
