They have those tee colors screwy compared to what there is around here. It's blue/black = tips, white = normal play, gold/yellow = senior, red = women. Going to be weird to tee up on golds for me. Strange to see the colors shuffled around +1 extra set.

Ah, just saw you got swapped into our group.

I'm gonna have to play out of my mind to help the team, since I really think I'm still closer to a 20 handicap...but just force me to not be an idiot and we'll be ok. If I can play bogey golf with a few pars and maybe a birdie or two thrown in, we'll be golden.

A lot of longer courses around here typically have their "true tips" painted in gold and refer to them as the "Championship" tees. Most of them are set up the way you referenced, but there's around 4 that I can think of within 30 miles of Fox Meadow that follow suit with 4-5 sets of tees.

There may be some around here too, but they are probably closed courses like Fox Meadow is. Most public courses have no need to be very long since it's usually casual players on them and making the course longer wouldn't be good for them. Length is typically not a problem for me so much as accuracy. I'm usually right around by the green on 500+ yd par 5s unless I have a horrible drive. I'm actually looking forward to playing a course that is a little longer. The course I do the best on here is 6320 and the one I do second best on is 6310. The course I do horrible on is only 5787.... So strange, easily 10 strokes difference between how I play those longer compared to the shorter course. 6552 shouldn't give me a problem distance wise.

The main difference is, the longer the course, the more frequently you'll have to hit driver, which will lower your margin for error off the tee. If it's 6300, I can hit my 5 iron or hybrid off the tee and still be able to reach in two. At 7,000 yards, I'm hitting at least a 3 wood if I want a GIR chance...

No courses around here even scratch at 7k yards, at least none that I've played. Not many really good courses around my area unless I want to drive 30+ minutes away. Considering I play by my self a lot I've no intentions of driving that far to golf.

The only public course i know of, up near the Akron Canton area that goes above 7000 yards is "The Legends of Massillon" municipal golf course. The original design was over 7000 yards. But they have three 9's now, so it varies.

Other than that, i've seen mid to upper 6000 usually.

Unless you can consistently golf well at the yardages you're playing, no need to move on to super long challenging courses, unless you just want a change of scenery.

I do better on the longer courses so I figured why not try to find one that's even a bit longer. I've no clue why I do so poorly at the shortest course in the area, it's also where I golf league so I have plenty of time there. I've tried hitting 4 or 5 iron off the tee to try to eliminate some of the troubles, but if I'm hitting bad tee shots it doesn't matter what's in my hands on the tee.

Here's a bunch of longer courses in/around the Medina/Akron/Canton area (or within a 20 mile radius). Just adding these on for you in case you were interested in playing any of them, or if anyone else was interested for that matter. Yardage listed is from the longest set of tees that the course offers.

• Firestone North - 7,125 (the pros play South)
Shale Creek - 7,026

Blue Heron - 7,040

Glenmoor - 7,015
The Quarry - 7,015

Dorlon Golf Club - 7,191

• Weymouth CC - 7,007
Pleasant Valley - 6,912

Bunker Hill - 6,800

Royal Crest - 6,746

Little Mountain - 6,616
The Sanctuary - 6,811
• Medina CC - 6,875

• = Private Course

Heh, I just looked for courses at a reasonable distance from me and the longest non-tips length was 6550 and that's close to 40 minutes away. Maybe worth the trip if I had some people going with me but for a solo round not so much. I'd spend about 1/3 of my time in the car going there and back! I could just play from the tips on the courses here to get the extra distance but they tend to put them in bad places here, not just further back, but off to a side shooting through a narrow gap in trees and such nonsense. The area I live in isn't very prosperous so that is probably why there aren't many good courses around. I'm about an hour north/south/east/west of the places where you can find a lot of quality courses.

FWIW, they're truly more of a gold color though, not "yellow" like most "gold" tees.

All set.

BTW, we're now going to play best 2 out of 3 scores, since one person in every foursome is someone from Medicus and they may be doing other things occasionally, like filming reaction testimonials, etc. Okay?

We will suspend the 14-club limit (so we won't "really be playing golf" :D) for this tournament inasmuch as you can only have 14 clubs of your OWN, but any KickX clubs you demo during the round will not count. You'll be encouraged to use them "in game situations" and on your golf ball to play your actual shot. Enjoy. :)

That's pretty cool, would be nice to try out something in a fairway wood and wedge. Never had a chance to demo clubs, never even been to a demo day at a driving range rofl.

You'll get a chance to demo drivers, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters during the demo/instruction time period.

Irons wouldn't make much sense to take out on the course, but the rest will be great to take out and try out. Just note that the shots you play with them count - no extra "goof around" or "just try it out" type shots please. :D

The club you guys will probably like the most - and a club I'm looking to finally add to my bag - is the Blast Driveway .

Never before seen video footage of Dave's second swing with the thing from a rather crappy lie (might be a bit - it's processing):

That thing sounded a little strange on impact. I'll definitely give it a shot regardless.
