I guess it makes sense for the Am since you potentially have more days and more rounds to caddie. Just wondering about the pro tours.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

For the US AM, I'm guessing it was probably allowed by the local tournament committee? And no, the PGA and or LPGA does not allow push/pull carts as far as I know. At least I've never seen one used in all the years I've watched golf.

A friend played in the US Mid Am at Bandon Dunes a few years back and he used a push cart there. Didn't have a caddie.

A professional using a cart? That would not be professional.  It's also not professional for golfers to wear short pants when in play.  Also, seems that caddies can ONLY wear short pants so that we can see who is who.

I doubt there are rules against them, unless they are self propelled. There are times they are inconvenient, caddies bring tour bags very close to the tees and greens. They can be a pain where big side hills are encountered. A few of the players are using mid sized bags with legs instead of traditional tour bags. Really with the improved durability and efficiency of modern bags it is hard to justify traditional tour bags.

I noticed that too when watching the US Women's Am. Is the reason that push carts are not allowed on pro tours mainly based on tradition? Or is the PGA trying to create business for chiropractors? My back hurts just watching older caddies like Fluff lugging around a big staff bag.

I wasn't asking if a player is allowed, but whether a caddy is and nothing about dress code.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
