This dude's swing is hideous. yet he contributed to a victory over Tiger Woods at the Presidents Cup.  I cant believe that thing made it thru customs tbh.

Any one else who has seen an over the top move be successful in high level golf, can you explain how to make it work lol

He has a steady head, weight forward, not flipping at impact. His back swing is actually pretty good till about arm height, then he gets vertical a bit. Really, his club isn't that far outside his hands at A6, so he's not that to much over the top. He compensates well in transition, and gets to a point were he can hit a pull fade. Which is one of the preferred shot shapes. You always want a ball flight that starts away from the target line and curve backs to it. So pull fade, or push draw.

All Keys in place. Look at what Bruce Lietzke did.

this is way worse than lietzke lol. at least from what I can remember, lietzke had his swing more tightened up.

It looks worse. That doesn't mean it is. Lietzke played a big curve.

Search for Lietzke's swing with the driver, he's aiming 30-40 degrees to the left of center, that's crazy.

Carl Petterson is a modern player who plays pretty well with a over-the-top move. Sam Snead was pretty good and he came over the top by most definitions. I feel over-the-top can be very powerful if done correctly, with all the 5SK for example.

Like Erik said, all 5 Keys in place.  The players mentioned may look "over the top" but the clubhead is still shallowing out on the downswing.  Which isn't what you see with a higher handicapper or a typical OTT swing.  Couldn't find any good video of Lietzke or Parry but got a couple decent impact pics.  Take note of the elbow locations.

Pettersson shifts the left arm out and hits push draws.  Club head well in at A6

Like working on the swing,,score means nothing to me. Might just go to the range and give up playing... ( might happen)

He hits push draws, too - hands go out, but clubhead stays in.

Having good cameras doesn't hurt either, I shot that video of Pettersson.

    • Day 16 - Hit the range and played 12 holes. Seeing results from Evolvr analysis, but it’ll take time to achieve consistency.
    • Wordle 1,080 4/6* 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜ 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩   nice eagle @Clemsonfan
    • @Hardspoon and I will have to discuss it over for the next one. 😛    Just to give a short review of the courses.  NorthStar is a pretty good course. The condition is good. There was a couple of meh holes (#16 and #18 specifically). Nothing really stood out as amazing. Yea, probably like a 6/10.  Eaglesticks, I think from tee to green is really interesting. Some of the greens, more so pin positions were a bit crazy. Like, if you slightly missed you would have a putt that could not stop with in 15-Ft of the hole. Maybe a 5.5/10 something around there.  The Virtues, still good as ever. In really good condition. Being it is in a similar part of the state as Eaglesticks, it shares the same hilly terrain. Eaglesticks is more compact, so it might have more extreme slopes. While the Virtues is on a larger property and was more selective in where the holes were built. The green complexes at The Virtues seemed fairer than Eaglesticks. Still, I think a very good public course that can challenge you to hit a good tee shot. The approach shots are interesting. I still think I would recommend people make the trip to play if they haven't done so. Probably a 7/10.
    • Shot 77 at Eagle Sticks (Middle/ Blue) and 87 at Virtues (Middle/White). Not as sharp at Virtues and for me it was a much tougher course. Both courses were fun, in good shape and interesting. Virtues was clearly a notch or two higher in overall quality (former Longaberger Golf Club).
    • Well said @billchao. I echo those sentiments. Arcadia Bluffs in 2025?? 😉
