Hmmm, more time to work on golf?  I was curious about getting a part time job at a course several years ago, wondering if it would give me more time/access to use the course facilities for practice.

Anyway, does this mean the business is on hold, or what?

ya my funds ran dry haha. so once i start working and getting some money in I'm hoping to get it up and going

oh man. so i had a pretty good range session and a not so good round. the wind on the back 9 kinda sucked, but it was my swing getting crazy. i lost about 4 tee shots right because i got fast and was swinging hard. i did have about 4 tee shots that were exactly how i wanted tho so that was cool. i only hit 2 greens and 8 fairways. so i'll be at the range monday bright and early. my videos from the range will be up in a bit after i load them

Use the time to practice properly.

To make my point as strongly as possible, if you hit a ball over 100 yards in the air, you're doing it wrong.

And take your pictures and review the videos @mvmac made for you before you go.

yes that is a great idea. and i think i am doing it wrong. i grab my 6 iron to practice with and they go around 130in the air and sometimes more. i'll have to work on toning it down and focus more on swing and ball flight as opposed to some distance

IIRC, you were hitting the ball 40-60 yards during your lesson. That is how you practice too. Change the picture, make BIG changes or big FEELING changes, and change the picture.

I would even recommend taking less club, like an 8 or a 7 when doing your drills.

I find that an 8 iron works really well for drills. People at the range give me the dumbest looks when they see me hitting about 50 yds or so..Almost everyone there goes full blast, If you can't do it slow, you sure as heck can't do it fast.. :-D

I was wondering, why an 8i? I use the PW for these drills. Should I be using an 8i or 7i?

Wedge is fine

Whew, I thought I was on the wrong track again or something. So, what would be the reason for using the 8i or 7i?

BTW, trying to do ball shaping has been the main culprit of my bad swings lately. I'm going back to creating a "normal" swing for a few months till I get comfortable doing the same thing every time to improve my ball striking.

I like an 8i, cuz I don't have to bend over as far... ;-) Plus, it's my goto iron...lol

I bend the same amount for every club, even the driver. The only difference for me is the angle of the shaft, and the distance the club head is from my feet. Seems more comfortable and consistent this way.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
