Hey guys, just wondered if this is the place all the TGC guys went to?  TGC used to be hopping, but since they dropped Disqus the place is almost empty, wondered if this was the next best place, and were the folks all went

I'm a former TGCer and for me this is the best golf forum I've found.  I DO participate on another one, but this is the better of the 2, IMO.  In a lot of ways it is way better than the old TGC forums ever were.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Is it GC or TGC? I wandered there and I can't even find it, the URL /forums is broken. Methinks NBC errr Comcast errr Evil Empire wants you to tune in and watch commercials and buy Viagra. I'm a cordcutter, WTF are commercials? I appreciate that there's GC to telecast tourneys, I really do, but the rest of it? Spit. Patoohey. I do my own programming via what's on YouTube et al and that's better.

It seems like THE golf channel has about three commercials and play them in a loop about every forty five seconds ad nauseum.

ok, enough....Stacey's mom has got it going on.

That's how good the branding is. Years and I forget the exact name. Both recent threads say TGC.

I guess the dropped the "The" to make is sound more important...fact is everyone calls it THE golf channel, even the tour pros, so all of the money they spent rebranding has been one huge waste. I continue to use it just because it somehow makes me able to remind them they aren't what they think they are or should be. Not a good reason I know, but my way of telling them to step it up. I look at the THE golf channel as a failure in realizing potential. The infusion of NBC has helped a lot, but until they really clean house.....Tighlman, Lerner, Isenhower, the entire crew of morning drive they really aren't much better than the local stations covering high school basketball. Some real pros are needed, currently they're populated by a collection of wannabees.

    • I did the RTJ trail, we just did Grand National and Capitol Hill. We were trying to minimize travel time. It gave us 5 courses to play. You pare playing 3 of the 5 we played.  If I had to pick, I would play the Lakes over the Links at Grand National. Links felt too penal on approach shots. If you can't get height or spin, it felt like every ball that hit the center of the green ran off the back. A lot of the greens require force carry, no running it up. It just wasn't that fun to play.   Judge - Really good course, some really cool holes and terrain.   Senator - Really fun open course. They call it link style, I can't remember how much you can play the ball down, but it has the aesthetic appeal.
    • I do that at the range; I just have been going through a half-assed pre-shot routine. 😇 I just kind of waltz up to the ball and hit it. I catch myself just going through the motions of aiming. Once I started aligning my club to an intermediate target, I felt like I was aligned way open to the target but just trusted it. Like, if the club was aimed at the flag in the middle of the green, then my body was aligned left of the green or more (assuming something like a 100+ yard shot). I think I was more concerned with where my feet were lined up and not the clubface.  A question on alignment then.  So, the ball is like what, 3-FT away from the toe target line. So, does that mean if my toe line is aimed at the flag, the club is aimed 3-ft right? Does the perception of the green looking smaller in the distance impact that in terms of how we hit the shot? I feel like the geometry should work that the ball is actually aimed 3-FT right.
