Agreed. I am not sure sure if I am rooting for good golf or who looks best in a golf skirt...

The hostess and Renée are the only attractive ones. Not that it should matter. Good to see an early hole-out.

I'm curious to see if that wonky home made swing will hold up ... gotta like a chick that drives a race car, knows her way around a shotgun & has enough golf game to make Big Break  (gotta be a country song in there somewhere ....)

I'm rooting for her. She hits balls at the same range I do/did. (I don't live near there anymore)

I liked the twist.  It was strange at first, but I decided that the pressure associated with being out there ALONE - even to accomplish such a 'simple' task as parring a 450 yard par 5 - would be exponentially more (slight bit of hyperbole) than playing a match against somebody else.

If I'm alone being chased by a tiger then I have to somehow outrun a tiger, but if I'm there with somebody else, all I have to do is outrun them. :-P

Wow, you have really high standards. ;-) I don't find any of them (cept Marla Hooch down below) to be unattractive.  Also, she may not exactly be "hot" but I am pulling for Tonya because she's a mom.  I'm also not liking Courtney so far - she's a bit annoying what with her dancing and her "freaking monkeys" that I have a feeling we're going to hear every week.

Not so much in this picture ... but when she was doing her "confessionals" last night, she really reminded me (looks and voice) of Catherine Martin (the one from Silence of the Lambs who 'places the lotion in the basket':

Lmao! So far I can't stand Courtney.. That crap with her dancing after the glass break pissed me off a bit and she's super annoying.

I watched it on my DVR this morning.  The elimination challenge was a joke.  Make par to stay on the show?? At least make it a hard hole and not a par 5 that could be reached in two if she wanted to go for it.

And I don't think you guys are quite appreciating the pressure associated with her having to go do that ALONE.  Yes, it was a short hole.  But, it did have water on one side, and OB on the other.  I'm trying to imagine what I would feel like knowing that my entire life's dream hinged on one swing with a driver where I had no bailout.  I don't know that I would even be able to swing the club.

At least if she was competing against somebody else, there was always the possibility that her opponent would hit a bad shot as well.

The challenge was very simple, yes, but it was also really "raw" and I thought that was part of the beauty of it.

I am sure it was stressful but easy for a competitive golfer.

I could imagine it be stressful.  But I would of liked it spiced up a little.  Like bogey your off the show, par you play tmro, but if you birdie you get 500 cash or gift card, and exempt from elimination on the next show if you make eagle.  Then she would of had a bigger challenge on either to lay up or go for it.

I don't care what pressure though, but if an aspiring tour pro cant make par or better on a short par 5 95% of the time, they will not be on the tour very long.

Now you're talking!  I like this idea.  If they continue with the "solo" elimination challenges (they won't because there is a finite number of shows) then little things like this would be nice.  I agree with you guys that it would have been nicer to see her go for it in two.

Absolutely ... however, if you've watched past seasons of this show - especially the recent all-girls ones - you'd know that very few of them are really tour caliber.

I am optimistic, though, after the showing they put up in the second challenge last night.  A hole out, and nearly 2 more!

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
