I, first name Colin, last name 007, pledge to drag my cousin Jesse, kicking and screaming if I have to, into the game of golf until he is hopelessly hooked.

I got my brother in law hooked.

Another brother in law is from Hong Kong and was already hooked on it, but did not play that often until visiting us. This was last month.

I pledge to get two more people hooked on it this year. I have two likely candidates. They are both bachelors, and have a golf course near them. . .

I have two targets.  This one really does not count.  My son has taken more of an interest in the game and I plan to start taking him out Saturday mornings to an executive course nearby.  He will be 6 and I am just going to let him have fun and play.  He is a very free spirit so it does no good to try and give him direction at this point. :)

My real target is one of my new co-workers John. I told him that my goal for this year was to get him hopelessly addicted to golf.  He said he was game.   My brother and I have starting taking our estimating/sales team on an outing once or twice a year.  We also do an annual all employee outing that we take up to all 30 members of our shop out on.  We have fed the addiction to them.  :)  They keep asking every year, "when is the golf outing going to be?"  We have had a lot of fun doing this.

Don't be afraid to take him to a real course too. Let him steer the cart if you take one (away from the eyes of the pro shop, etc. :D). Let him look in the ponds for fish or frogs. Just start him where your tee shot finishes, or closer, on the holes he wants to play. Heck, just take two clubs along if you want.

This won't work if you can't go out as a single, so I suggest later in the afternoons for nine holes fairly often (nine for you - probably parts of about three to five holes for him).

Will do thanks. I have done that a bit with him. He mainly just likes to hit off the tee box and then go up by the green and chip it on and putt it. He did 18 that way with my Dad and I last year a couple times. We are working to get over the little golf cart incident from a couple years ago a bit though.

I pledge to create a golfer in 2014!

I have a friend in mind. Ironically, for an avowed atheist such as myself, he is a member of the clergy. Now that he's stopped trying to convert me and we've got over that, it's time to start playing golf together. I'm buying new irons this month (Wilson Staff C100), he can have my old Tour Edge XCG-3 irons, a few fairway woods I have surplus to requirements (Tour Edge Bazookas and Wilson Staff Fybrids), an old Mitsushiba putter, and a bag I'll buy him from Wallymart (whichever one is cheapest), a load of Noodles, and a pull-cart from Goodwill...because if he's going to play golf with me, he's going to walk...

I'll let you know how we get on.

Hi all,

I don't post here often but I lurk a lot =). Just figured I'd chime in and say I'll take the pledge. I want to grow this game and I already have a few future prospects in the works. Now just to get them hooked!

I guess I'm on level 2 already, in January I convinced my wife to get total beginner lessons. Her first one is next Monday.

I'll give you level 1 for now. Keep us updated! :)
