The only thing I know for sure is that I sure wouldn't use either the version of it that the woman that invented it uses or any facsimile thereof.

But in case you feel nervous about trying it, look at some true beginning golfers and you'll feel better about your own skills! :bugout: This is meant as humor!

Can you show us anyone that hits the ball reasonably far with this approach? All you've shown so far is a bunch of really low SS players. All of them have been extremely wipey so it's not really a shock that setting up super closed would help them hit it higher and farther. I feel like showing impact pictures for this swing methodology is kinda silly too because the method is literally about pre-setting an impact position at address, so obviously impact is going to look better. The question is, what are the actual numbers in terms of path, launch and etc. If we get people into a good looking impact position by extremely pre-setting yet they end up with a path that's 10 right, that's not going to be playable for most people. It seems to me like there's no high quality video available either of the swing for some reason.

So it's not a shock the MGS system works since it's designed around better impact from inside but the films look tacky and there's not a lot of data that would help us work with students? I agree.

My distance improved by 10% across the bag and even in a post-surgery haze, I was flying the ball 235-245 with driver, but I get your point because I like flashy, tied together presentations. Kiran's MGS is original research without the funding and polish of an effective program like PURE-STRIKE which I will study since it is serious original research which is always valuable.

I gotta tell you that having grasped the pre-set/pre-twist by pushing off the right foot for MGS, fades and draws are very easy to adjust for with ball position and/or degree of shoulder turn at the pre-set.  Keeping the right side lower than the left and lifting your left/front arm up the chest are the constants.

Here is a fade in a non-flashy film.

It looks silly but so does my cane and new artificial knee which is twice the normal size but both work. Good luck!

My video proves that a big right knee and a swollen right leg can be detriments to an inside path and a lot of other things.

Your video proves that feel ain't real.

I know that there are other places to post "My Swing" on the blog but did so hear to try to respond to some of the challenges and attacks.

Many (most?) of those attacks came from you. You always seemed to duck the relevant swing-related questions, while questioning the mental aptitude of those who disagreed with the basic premises of this swing.

Kiran Kanwar's MGS swing is about guaranteeing a shallow inside club head path to the ball repeatedly because 1) the club design, 2) the ball design and making physical changes in the golfer's swing that are bio-mechanically "friendly."

I'm pretty sure the "regular swing" works with "the club design" just fine as well. That line is a nonsense line and you'd be best advised to stop using it.

Ditto "the ball design."

You've yet to explain how any of the motions are biomechanically "friendly." So too has Kiran online in many, many conversations she's had in the Golf Biomechanists group.

As the left arm lifts up the chest from the tricep against the chest the hands and right arm feel dead with both thumbs pointing behind the golfer until the arm gets to about 10 O'clock.

Uhm…

Seriously… She set someone up more closed to help them swing out more, and that's MGS? Okay man…

I'm not sure of the question here nor of your objectivity. You guys do not like Kiran. I get it. You do not like anyone who follows her-check. You cannot have any opinion that disagrees with yours-check. So let me just reply with "asked and answered."  Good luck with your marketing of Pure Strike-seriously.

Sorry, but that's bullshit. We don't "like" Kiran? Most people here have never talked to her, let alone met her. I have, and it's not a matter of "like" or "dislike." It's a matter of her being able to (or unable to) explain some things. It's a matter of me making an informed decision on her ideas about the golf swing, given my background in the same as well as the sciences.

Also, we are not dealing with opinions here. We are talking about facts. Please locate the "opinions" and you'll discover that they're few and far between - we are here discussing facts - physics, biomechanics, etc. Fact: you hinged your wrists in your golf swing while MGS says not to.

I'd written this up a day or two ago, but now's as good a time as any to post it. It too discusses facts :

Minimalist Golf Swing Tenets

1. Pre-set right side bend, then maintain it so it is there at impact.
2. Do not load the wrists for better timing (???)
3. Minimal torso turn for reasons yet to be made clear.
4. Arm loads up the chest.

Problems, in order:

1. Right side bend exists in all good golf swings using traditional mechanics. It's most often caused by the head remaining relatively steady while the hips go forward a bit.
2. If this were actually done in a swing you'd find an undeniable loss of power. Possibly this improves timing, but the vast majority of players will not take that tradeoff.
3. More loss of power. Perhaps again more control, but again, they will not take that tradeoff.
4. This happens in the traditional swing as well. I suspect it's exaggerated in MGS to help the player hit out (it helps the hands gain depth), but many will throw their hands out at the ball anyway.

Showing us photos of Ben Hogan doing things doesn't matter. Ben Hogan had a traditional swing. You may as well show us photos of Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson or Bubba Watson, none of whom have much of anything in common with MGS as shown by the creator herself.

Showing us videos where in 30 minutes a student makes one small change (often just closing their shoulders at setup slightly) does not serve as any form of proof of anything. They're still making a "traditional" swing.

I don't have any stake in Pure Strike or this site beyond I enjoy being an active member in it, but I'm also skeptical of your motivations or real understanding of the MGS.  I'm far from an instructor but I have eyes and it's pretty obvious that the video you posted of your swing is not the same as Kiran's, nor is the young man's you just posted.

You came to this site to tout / defend Kiran but you aren't even using her swing so it's difficult to take your points seriously.  I realize you are recovering from knee surgery and that may impede your ability to perform the swing as it should be but in even the last video you presented, the swing is not the same as what Kiran calls the MGS, if anything it's just a small segment of what is incorporated in her swing.

That dude isn't hitting the ball anywhere either. If that ball goes 250 I'm surprised. It's like the least dynamic swing I've ever seen. All this looks to me is that he set up less closed, and thus the typical wipey motion results in more of a fade. I feel like instead of correcting the swing dynamics the average hacker has, this swing just pre-sets them into such a closed position, that they can make their same crappy motion and have it be ok at impact.

that looks like a nice swing and hit.other than the twist of the head and upper torso to the right before swinging it looks like ordinary swing to me but im no expert.i can tell hes a lot better more experienced golfer than the ones I saw being taught that method by kiran.

I am trying to just keep my head in tilt and lift my left arm up a barely pre-turned chest.  I either stepped on my left heel to come down or did an underhand clap.

Patrick, nice job with the video. You mention, in a couple of places, stepping into the left heel.  I'm wondering, does Kiran actually teach this anywhere, or is it your own addition?

Acer, I have finished my first round on a par 71 less than 3 weeks after total knee replacement. Despite putting poorly I shot 39/42 on a par 71-my knee is a balloon and icing it now. Today, I simply pulled the club head past the ball and this was witnessed by Dr. Neil N, Commander D. Mann and Mrs Marybeth K. All 3 commented on my effortless distance. :bugout:

Some here will blame Kiran for my plus 80 score no doubt ignoring the 10 birdie putts/chips I missed while only making 1. They will also not admit their hypocrisy in allowing a student to slowly learn their system while demanding all MGS students completely follow every utterance Kiran has ever made. Likewise those 'all-knowing" marketers of re-hashed information will continue to ignore Dr. Suttie's approval of the MGS method since it does not fit their hate-filled narrative.

When I step on my left heel, I am adding my own touch to what feels good for my body that day.  Very much like many golfers do on certain days when playing a fade or draw-they go with it. As a result of the video, I enhanced my twist and hit a very satisfying draw all day being aware of my coming over the top of my knee in the video.

I suppose I am similar to you.  I follow MGS but not completely.

Well, Matt if you have any insights to share or think I'm messing up somehow let me know-I was a little dizzy on the greens today after the front 9-it has been a few weeks since touching the sticks still I missed real birdie chances on 1,2, (made 4), 7. 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 real = within 30 feet of the pin.

Kind regards,

Patrick

I guess all the tour pros will be switching to MGS.

I don't believe that will be the case Carl! :smartass: But Tiger did pretty well with a very restricted backswingand a good shoulder turn today!  Actually, that's the whole point.  Kiran's MGS is about pre-setting the basic golfing positions- no big deal just different for people like me who are not Tiger or even you Carl, lol!

Kind regards,

Patrick
