The Haney Blueprint

While watching The Valero today, saw a commercial a new product, the Haney Blueprint.  The website is obnoxious and appears to be developed in 2003 with a video and voice over that makes you cringe due to outrageous claims and self promotion.

I was wondering if anyone saw the ad today or actually bought it?

I've seen the ad a couple of times. I think the first time was a few weeks ago during the WGC match play? Anyway, I ignored it as I do with all things Haney.

I haven't seen anything on it. I actually kind of like Haney apart from his instruction.

All I know about Haney: He coached Tiger Woods. He's not very popular on TST. The people he coached on that TV show didn't improve much (if any). Some faced a mountain due to a lack of athletic ability but Michael Phelps? Come on. He's 1000 times better athlete than anyone in our Saturday game and he probably couldn't beat any of them after the show.

My thoughts exactly! Some of the advice he gave his students left me scratching my head. He did not impress me at all.

I didn't start the thread to rag on Haney.  I don't like that Haney wrote a tell-all book about Tiger but otherwise he's entertaining.  I am in no position to judge him as an instructor and refrain in all my posts from doing so.

If you visit his site, I don't think I said anything that wasn't true.  The website design and video reek of 2005 infomercial design, all that was lacking was a live audience to cheer Hank and go "oooh, ahhhhh".

This guy coached Tiger, he's one of the best known instructors in the world, so when he comes out with a product I expect it to be representative of the man and his accomplishments.  Claiming that in only 30 minutes he had a older out of shape guy driving the ball 280 yards when previously he couldn't hit further than 200 yard drives seems a bit unbelievable.

I'm still curious if anyone has bought it as it appears to focus on a single plane swing but I can't tell from the marketing propaganda what it really is talking about.

Alright, I ordered the Haney Blueprint since there's a money back guarantee.  Just getting through the first 60 minutes, which addresses the Foundation.  Hank is a good presenter but the content is really basic so far.

I'll use this thread to share any revelations and do a review when I'm done watching.

I'll make two statements I consider to be true:

1. Most sucky players have a weak, palmy grip.
2. Virtually everyone (as in 99.999% or more) who slices (and has been playing for more than a few weeks) swings across the ball quite a bit.

I don't think the first directly leads to the second. It may contribute, but I'd rank the contribution as small. Heck, Tiger under Hank had a very weak grip.

According to Hank a palmy grip is good, it will keep you from releasing the club too soon.

Where the ball starts is influenced by both face and path... Predominately face If anyone would like me to analyze their swing I'd be happy to tell you what I think.
