Kaymer drives the green on par 4 3rd hole (his 12th). Holy crap- he's separating further?

The announcers were referring to themselves, vis-a-vis their butchering of the pronunciation of Andes Etchevarria's name.

Ah my bad. Sounded like they were talking about the playing group when I came in. That statement about Donald being number one "for about a minute" irked me. He was #1 for awhile no?

What was Woods' lead at Pebble?

This is turning into another Rory at Congressional. Boring as hell, I think i'll watch the world cup.

And he has an easy par-5 comin up. Brace yourselves boys....this lead is about to get massive

Yep. Minus nine and more to come. This is starting to remind me of 2000. The winning score was -12, but it wasn't that the course was too easy, because Woods won by 15. There's a long way to go, but Kaymer is impeccable so far. Personally I don't find it boring, I enjoy watching a top player operating at the height of his powers.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Duf just whacked an old guy with a quick snap hook. Duf signed his glove for him as they usually do, but he's lucky as hell that his ball deflected back in the fairway. That could have cost Dufner another shot if he wound up in the junk.

Yeah but he is also soon having to play the 7th hole today....you know the one hole that he bogied yesterday. I hope he can put that out of his mind and play well today.

Yeah kinda disappointing. I was really hoping for more bite from this course. And I know it's not playin easy easy, but it's not as demanding as it could be and most us opens are. I think the waste areas being so playable plus the fact they overwatered the course Wednesday night is leading to better scoring than their should be.

Thank God for the World Cup this weekend.

Just as a sideline, does anyone else agree that watching Keegan Bradley set up for a shot is absolute agony? If he gets any twitchier he'll get to the point at which he can't bring himself to actually hit the ball.

I think he has OCD or something lol, but i don't mind it. I've grown to ignore it

I crack up when he's just off the green. His pre-shot stance and twitches make him look like a LB in the NFL lol. Like he's ready to run up and hit it and race it to the hole.

    • Yeah that didn't pass the smell test
    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
