Thanks. I’ve been working on this for a few weeks with ups and downs. The other drills help a lot too. I keep going back to my Erie notes when I get off track.

Glad @iacas jumped in. I watched and my only thought was "Looks really solid". Definitely beyond my level for giving pointers 😆 Went back and looked at your video from 2-3 months ago and your swing looks better for sure!

One thing watching the videos again after Erik's commentary. These pics are right at the transition point. To me the driver one looks a little more stack and tilty. As in, not as good in the load back and recenter as the 6i swing. Honestly not sure if that's a problem or not.

A bit more shoulder turn on the 6i. Looks to me like straighter back leg and more bent front leg with the driver. Like the angle he's driving forward is pointed more towards the ground with the driver.

With that impression from the pics I went back and looked at the videos and it does indeed look to my eye like the hip shift forward is accomplished with the driver more by keeping the back leg straight and dipping into the front knee. While with the 6i the front knee doesn't bend more and the hips slide forward more on a straight line rather than also down towards the ground.

Nailed it, yes. And the 6I is better.

@boogielicious, note that extending the right knee more actually matched up with a smaller shoulder turn.

So leave a little flex in the right knee and reach higher then? I do the high backswing rehearsal drill from Erie (go to the top, pause, pump higher) as a warm up. I should think about keeping a little flex in the right knee with driver too.

FWIW, the driver was later in the session. Fatigue or loss of focus may be a factor, but it will keep that note in mind.

Could be, yeah. And yes, you don't ever want to fully straighten the right knee, nor do you want that right leg to "pivot" or turn out. You want to internally rotate into that thigh.

For me the feel that works is feeling the weight push into the far inside edge of the back foot. Really loading to push forward. You don’t get that loaded feel at all if you externally rotate and (near) fully straighten the back leg. Not without issues. Mistake for me is not really straightening the back leg much at all. YMMV

Today I worked a bit on the feel of having my left leg thrust my left hip back more. I got away from this work. I combined it with the other feel of allowing my body turn to start the down swing. I had to film in profile view because I changed where my stand was set up for the MEVO +.

I’m a bit too flat in the wrist at A4 here and the head is a bit outside at A6. I need to be careful with that.The EE is minimal in this swing and hips are pretty open at impact. I didn’t do a face on, but I suspect I’m rotating more than sliding forward. 

The 6 iron EE is more pronounced, but the swing looks pretty good. More cupping at A4 is needed so I can palmar flex more in the downswing.

That is solid. Yeah EE is darn near gone !!!

On a different note I am curious- I've never heard of a left wrist being too flat at A4. You want to cup more to palmer flex more? I didn't know cupping lead wrist can be causal to palmar flexion. Again, just mighty curious..

It can, yes, absolutely.

If your wrist is already palmar flexed slightly it's going to want to go back toward cupped. If it's cupped, you have room to palmar flex it.

What you do in the backswing often reverses in the downswing.

I had a swing review with my Evolvr instructor and we came away with a few adjustments. Setup has drifted a bit and caused a couple of issues. First, I'm too upright at setup especially with the driver. Second, I start my backswing pushing my hands out instead of my body just rotating. Third, my hands need to be deeper at A4. Fourth, my hand path from A4 should be more down from the top than out. Lastly, my right ankle is rolling during the backswing causing my knee and thigh to rotate rearward.  The corrections are:

  1. setup more bent over and have arms hang a bit more vertical.
  2. Rotate to start the backswing to keep hand path going deeper not out.
  3. Get the hands high and deeper past right shoulder from DTL.
  4. Feel the hands starting down vertically from the top.
  5. Don’t roll the right ankle and feel the right knee continue to aim were it points to at setup. 

Below are a few drills. First is addressing setup up and backswing. I’m watching myself on my iPad using MirrorVision. I’m feeling more bent over and checking my arm hang. On the backswing, I want the feel of just rotating. My hands should not move forward at all. I did pretty good on these two.

As a bonus, you get to hear my wife and neighbors discussing yard waste pickup while they clean up after their dog Sydney’s attempt to empty our front garden of dirt. 😀

Next, I try add the feel of my hands going down vertically from the top and do a punch at the end. This one needs more work and feels awkward as changes usually do. My wife is also recreating the sound of Marley’s ghost dragging his chains in A Christmas Carol. None of this is distracting BTW.😜

Lastly, I’m working on the right ankle and knee feel. I’m keeping the weight a bit on the inside of my right foot. I tried to use tape on my pants to help see my knee and thigh better, but that was a fail. No significant additional sound effects in this clip.

I did the same drills with a 6 iron. These pieces will be my focus for the next few weeks.

Continued my work on my new pieces. The backswing items look pretty solid, deeper hands from start to A4. I’m also swinging down more from the top and not as much out. The right foot and knee also look better. But I still need work on post impact. More long arc drills may help this.

I’m rehearsing the downward movement from the top with this 6 iron swing, but the shaft is not dropping behind as much as it should I think.

Post impact I’m not looking as good, but the right foot/knee look better on the backswing.

Driver is similar, but the shaft flattens a bit better from the top.

Face on, I have a similar issue post impact.

Worked a bit today on extending after impact. The feels are chest to sky left of target at A9, hips forward with belt buckle to target, head turned to target. Did the long arc drill combined with my backswing work. Still working on longer backswing as well. It seems harder when it’s 38F out.🥶

This was yesterday. The swings felt off and short.

This was today. My chest is turned more, my arms extended more and head rotated more. I think my weight is back a bit though (note right foot).

Worked today doing punch and long arc drills trying to feel the left leg snap and push the left hip back. The I want to extend through impact and get the hips forward, belly buckle to target and chest to sky left of target. Not too bad here, but needs more work. I did notice my left foot spinning a bit in the back swing. I’ll have to watch out for that. It was a bit damp, so that may be the issue.

I’ve been working this week on transition mostly. The feel is letting the lower body lead the way as I land softly back on my left side and relaxing my wrists a bit at the top. I worked with the Tour Striker PlaneMate for a couple of day, which emphasizes this.

Below are a couple of swings from today. The DTL backswing from A1 to A4 looks pretty good here. I’m turning and getting my hands deep with the club head only lagging a small amount. I’m trying to also get the feel of the club head falling behind me. The rehearsal feels slow to me, but is too fast. I’m a little steep still at A5.

Face on, I’m still a little short at A4. This is a challenge as I’m trying to get a longer backswing. I keep working on the length and am stretching and doing Fit for Golf GolfFlex mobility workouts, but it still needs to be higher. When I warm up, I also do a pump drill to get it higher. Getting old is a challenge.

I am re-centering at A4 okay here. Impact looks pretty good but I need to continue the shoulder rotation through A9 better. I also could slide a bit more forward with my hips.

Today I worked on my priority pieces with driver only. Focus here was on transition and getting the feel of the club falling behind me as I go from A4 to A5. Started with some punch drills and noticed I was coming a bit OTT. So I worked on that for a bit.

Below is a 60% swing with a rehearsal of the feel. My left hand looks flat at the top, but I have a widget brace on underneath the glove. I feel cupped at A4, then flex a bit on the downswing primarily with left index finder pushing down as I palmar flex. I’ll have to film without the brace to make sure.

The full swing below is without a rehearsal.
