Well the start of the Nordea Open isn't that nice with 4 bogeys and 6 pars through 10 holes. Hope he can gain some form for the US open

However, I'm going to follow this thread!

Pretty much the worst start possible, +6 and only three players behind him. Welcome @DutchGolf , hope you'll like it here :-)

Yes very surprised by that first round from joost. Really thought he would contend this week as it looked like he was getting back to top form. Just shows what I know lol

Thanks @Silent ! 3 under through 11 now, so +3 as total score. It is unfortunate he had such a bad round yesterday, playing 4 rounds would have been nice as preparation for the US open.

Probably a certainty that he won't make the cut. Costly trip.

Agreed. Certainly a probability too. :) Joost is a streaky player during the rounds but ironically he reliably makes cuts because he birdies enough to offset mistakes. Not this time though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Due to Luiten his (lack of good) performances this year, starting today he's outside the top 50 of the world for the first time since long ago. At January 1st he was actually 29th. Unfort. Luiten failed to gain a top 10 place so far in 2015. Big difference with last year, when we saw a lot of top 5 finishes.

Gaining some good results now is getting even more important, starting with the US Open this week. I'm not too confident giving his recent results, but it has to (and will) turn around one day so let's hope it going to be at the US Open. Game on!

Yes agree, I think Joost is a bit unstable, going from good rounds to very bad rounds. Unfortunately he always has one very bad round during his tournaments this year and it is hard to recover from those bad rounds. I hope he can post a good result at the US Open and in the tournaments thereafter in order to come back in that top 50.

Joost Luiten with a very nice 2 under 68, in a tie for sixth right now. Made four birdies to two bogeys.

Indeed, amazing round and inside the top 10 after the first day. Unfort. because of the time difference and his late tee time I couldn't follow it. Hopefully a similar round today, starts early at 7.40 local time.

Great stats @Silent !!

Nice round by Joost, let's hope he can follow up today with another good round to aim at the top 10. Luckily he starts early today, which makes it easier to follow for us across the lake.

Another solid round (-1) after an impressive back nine (-3), taking him to T7 so far after 68/69 scores on the first two days. Game seems solid, including his putting. Most impressive is his driving accuracy at ~90%. Hopefully heading towards a great weekend.

After day 3, Luiten is still inside the top 10. Didn't have a very good day yesterday, bogeys on 16 and 17 really were too bad. Hopefully a good round today and at least a top 10 finishing position while hoping he can sneak into the top 5.

Nope :(

Sad 4th round for our man. +4 through first 8 so far.

Not a good round on day 4. Actually, two bad rounds in a row with a total of +9. Not finishing inside let's say the top 15 in a major is not a shame, but being inside the top 10 for three days and a serious amound of time in the top 5 even, it's quite disappointing how the last ~21 holes went (+7). This pretty much sums up the season Luiten is having so far.

Looking forward Luiten needs good results fast. If I'm not mistaken after his next tournament the result from the Irish Open in 2013 (T2) doesn't count anymore, in four tournaments his T4 at the Wales Open and in six tournaments his win at the KLM Open. A lot of points to lose!

    • Personally I have no issues with even the steroid-era figures such as Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa being inducted into the hall. My reasoning there is we already have nearly a half-dozen known steroid users in the hall, including those inducted after their steroid usage was already common knowledge. David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez (as well as Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, and Todd Helton) both failed the same wave of anonymous drug tests that saw Sammy Sosa shunned by the nation, and he's in the hall. Piazza admitted to using Andro (the same thing McGwire was juicing with) and amphetamines. Greenies were commonplace in MLB clubhouses and used by countless stars, alongside cocaine, from at least the 60's all the way up until the early 2000's. There are at least a dozen other pros in the hall that have allegations from teammates who claim to have directly witnessed steroid usage. Even Nolan Ryan has stated that he thought steroid usage was a widespread problem in the sport as early as the mid to late 70's. I'm of the opinion that once that genie is out of the bottle, and it most certainly has been for decades now, it's a bit silly to pretend those already inducted are somehow morally superior for being not quite as astronomically and suspiciously good at baseball when using steroids. Hitters were using steroids, pitchers were using steroids (funny how we saw the number of complete games fall off a cliff at the same time that steroid enforcement was being ramped up), it's an even playing field as far as I'm concerned. To quote The Incredibles, "When everyone is super, no one will be".  As for Pete Rose it would appear that by all accounts he never bet as a player and only ever bet on his own team while managing. It's understandable to prohibit any involvement in the sport after it was discovered, but it's not something that gave him any advantage in reaching his level of achievement in the sport.  As for Joe Jackson, I personally don't think he should have been banned in the first place. He actively refused the bribe, tried to report the plot to the owner of the White Sox, and his alleged confession only occurred after the White Sox's team attorney got him roaring drunk immediately prior to the grand jury testimony. Every confessed conspirator also stated that he never attending any of their meetings or discussed plans with them. Not to mention the fact that if he WAS trying to fix the series he did an absolutely terrible job of it considering he was the best performing player on either team by far setting a World Series record that stood until 1964 and went error-free while gunning down at least one runner at home plate.
    • Day 7: 5/13/2025 Range day today. Had a really good session. I was able to pull a mirror over into my stall and make a slow-mo swing in the mirror and then try to duplicate the swing to hit a ball.  Felt really good today. Tomorrow will be league night.
    • I have not posted here for a long time, but thought I would share a couple of things.  I have been working neuro-pathways. the message center from the brain to the muscles. When we move the body in new ways new pathways are created and when we stop moving certain muscles the pathways shrink. The body is very intelligent and it tries to be efficient , only using what is needed for the task at hand. I have working with the cable machines. Now most people who use the cable machines know the muscle gets a more even workout with the cables vs dumbbells . but what I did was pick out several exercises and did them on every setting on the cable machine, one arm at a time. At first glance it seems like the settings are so close it does not make much difference until you get to a lower setting, but I find it does. I used very light weights and did like 5 reps per exercise. We will see what I discover
    • Addiction is an illness, Scott. How insensitive of you! 🙂
    • If the Hall of Fame is about honoring the greatest players based on what they did between the lines, then Pete Rose — the all-time hits leader — belongs in it.
