I thought I'd start this thread for the soccer fans on this site. I primarily only watch the English Premier League, which starts Saturday. Feel free to talk about any other leagues(Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 etc...). I'm very excited for the season as my Everton look decent and picked up Romelu Lukakkkakkku. You may remember him for scoring against the US(:-(). I don't know if there is a lot of soccer fans on this forum or how popular this thread will be, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Feel free to talk about your favorite teams, players, or league.

I don't follow it that closely, but I have been paying attention to the transfers. Real Madrid and FC Barca are basically all-star teams at this point.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

I know, it's ridiculous. It's kind of one of the most "unfair" things in soccer, if you will. Because if you are one of the top 10 players in the world, it's only a matter of time before Barca, Real Madrid, or Bayern snatch you up. The amount of resources they have is nuts.

Forbes ranked Barca the top team in terms of revenue I think. More than the Yankees or the top NFL team.

I lived in Catalonia for extended stretches in the past --- big Barcelona fan.  I just wish they hadn't signed Chompers this summer.  :(

Yikes! But I think he'll do well. The EPL is really losing all their stars. Even if one of the stars may or may not be a vampire.

I was just about to add: might as well put FC Bayern on that list too since they added Lewandowski. If you drafted players to fill out two all-star rosters in La Liga, you'd be hard pressed to pick many players not on Real Madrid or Barca, especially now that Courtios and Diego Costa are gone from Atletico. Pretty much ditto for Bayern and Dortmund in the Bundesliga and PSG and Monaco in Ligue 1.

Hmm hard to really argue with that. Koke & Gabi deserve HM's. I think Griezmann is the only one who might get a look.

Fun little "article" (More like a powerpoint presentation) on the "worth" of each Premier League teams kit ... based on the combination of the manufacturer deal and the sponsorship deal.

http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/11354724/kit-deal-more-important-ever-premier-league

No surprise who's on top, but the graph at the end provides a pretty startling representation of the difference between the top and the bottom.  And this is only with respect to the uniforms!!!

I know the article is mostly about worth, but the graphics were pretty cool. I've always thought Chelsea had great uniforms. Liverpool too. Man U's look moronic with that huge Chevy logo.

Yeah, the EPL is really picky, as is FIFA. ------ On the bright side, Man U lost!

I started watching the game @ 60:00 and then saw there's 2 other games I can watch later. It's a bit overwhelming all the games available on the NBC web site. Almost MLB overwhelming, and that's just one league. Plus MLS here. Too much too follow.

I'm just gonna start with some Everton games as Howard is on the team.

    • Day 105: mirror work today. Focused on not looping my hands at the top of the swing. Straight down.
    • Still working on the backswing a bit. Hand still gets away from the body, out towards the ball, and at A2 the club wants to roll over and get flat at A3. It's just very difficult to shallow from that position like I want. Which makes my downswing work impossible.  Backswing I have been playing around with the left leg straightening to start the backswing. It's like, a slight shove of the hips right with the left leg. Then just keep the flex in the right knee as I turn into it. I kind of like it. I never had a good swing trigger. It helps keep my left knee extended.  Yea, definitely feeling the hand path is traveling down the feet line, and straight up. A little bit of wrist rotation, and a lot more hinge sooner in the right wrist and elbow. I am trying to get the feeling that the arm hinging up then is the cause for the right shoulder to retract to finish the backswing. Club feels much more vertical at A3. I am trying to have my wrist fully hinged by then.  Feel the club and arms stop at A3.5 (my A4). If my arm collapses late, then I turn into that and I am pretty much screwed. The club and arms kind of have a floaty feeling, where they are just suspended in air for a bit, then drop.  Downswing I have been trying to think of a good visual for this mentally. I like the idea of my hands taking a wide arc to my right pocket, or I am taking the back of the hosel and trying to hit the ground behind my right foot.    Left knee stuff, just sooner.
    • Day 78 - 2026-03-10 Backswing work at the net with foam balls, a few real ball swings.
    • Day 525 - 2026-03-10 Got some work in before lessons today (was going to play after but it decided to POUR). Then like three minutes in later on.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 26) - Worked on weight shift feel using slap stick drill (hands about 6” apart - coming back weight on trail foot - down - thru weight on lead foot….moved it to hitting chips w/9i playing what I call “leap frog” - hit 1st about 10yds, the next a couple past the 1st, for about 6 balls total.  Love it as the lies change, the distances vary making each swing slightly different.
