Last year I got what were most likely NXT Tours. I imagine these will be ProV1 or x balls because next year is the refresh on those so they'll be testing those now. Even years is the rest of the range, which is why I likely got that range of ball last year.

Dom's Sticks:

Callaway X-24 10.5° Driver, Callaway Big Bertha 15° wood, Callaway XR 19° hybrid, Callaway X-24 24° hybrid, Callaway X-24 5i-9i, PING Glide PW 47°/12°, Cleveland REG 588 52°/08°, Callaway Mack Daddy PM Grind 56°/13°, 60°/10°, Odyssey Versa Jailbird putter w/SuperStroke Slim 3.0 grip, Callaway Chev Stand Bag, Titleist Pro-V1x ball

awesome! always good to get stuff like that in the mail!

on a side note: (not trying to detract from your good fortune)

I always wanted to be a tester, been a Pro V1x snob since I can remember... then one day a friend and I blacked out 5 balls. He wrote down which balls were what and I proceeded to hit drivers, 6 irons, wedges, and flops with each of them.

I got 2 right out of those shots and they were with the full wedges.

Moral of my story..... I am not good enough to be a snob about my golf balls.

Now I play whatever is given to me through work.

I dont care about the brand, but do about the feel of the ball. I realized that while ever I am not a pro golfer the ball is going to play a very minor part in my performance.

How they physically look. The play is similar to both but I have not decided yet which one is the closest.

What looks different between the two besides the color on he number?

Different sized dimples remind me of the prov1x.

Fair enough, the x does seem to have smaller dimples. They are also patterned slightly differently around the logo (which I use as a reference, it's actually stamped the same on nearly every ball) between the two. I thought you meant it had a different coating.

How do I know that these balls are conforming?

I don't see them listed on the conforming ball list - http://www.usga.org/conforminggolfball/gball_list.pdf

not that it matters, I'll just play them anyway...and likely send them to a watery grave (they did survive yesterdays 9 holes)

They probably won't be listed until testing is finished and they are put on the market. The USGA wouldn't bother to test very prototype ball Titleist or other manufacturers make, as it would take up far too much time for a ball that won't be used outside of limited testing or (in some cases) a lab.

Played mine yesterday.  I alternated balls on holes.  Mine seemed very similar to the ProV1 I was playing.  I hooked into a water hazard just like a my other ProV1's :pound:

A water hazard on a different hole? I have been trying to play them in the middle of the course in fairly open areas so I don't lose them and get unobstructed flight of the ball. It seems however that I still manage to hit shots poorer and towards danger areas in surrounding holes because I am trying harder to avoid losing them right away.

I received them as well, I have done a similar project for a shaft company, that was fun as well...was fun getting lots of shafts (well not lots, but quite a few) labeled "proto, not for sale, ...use only" I wonder if everyone gets same "test" balls? Or if it's based on your profile/player type? The ones I received seem somewhere between prov1-prov1x

Got some in the mail today.

Didnt think I would since I answered Bridgestone 330-RX for my current ball in the recent survey they sent me.

I have not received the follow up message yet to report performance.

in the past I have received an email 2-3 weeks later to do the survey. I am thinking of waiting to play mine until the survey comes in so I remember what happened.

I wasn't planning on getting out to the course until next weekend BUT I've just been provided the motivation, courtesy of Team Titleist, to get out sooner to give these puppies a right royal seeing to! :) Regards Mailman

Those look a little NXT tour or DT Solo balls.

I have a couple New DT solos in my bag at the club so will compare them tomorrow and will let you know. The stamping looks exactly the same A the op's balls on the first page . Regards Mailman

Dimple pattern is different on yours than were on mine. If you look closely you can see the different sized dimples on mine. Yours are uniform all over. They don't look like ProV1s.
