Well, Velcro strap to keep the tripod from blowing over. My camera already took one hit and survived intact before I got... wind of this. :-)

Most higher end tripods (and some cheap ones will do it with plastic) have a hook on the center column. The purpose is to suspend a heavy weight from it, because it keeps the CG between the legs and minimizes any movement due to wind.

I can't tell you how many times we've knocked over tripods. Even heavy ones. Get as wide a base as you can, and get a low, heavy weight if you can as well.

I usually hang my camera bag from my tripod hook. It has another camera in it, a longer lens, and other accessories, so it's pretty heavy. On a really windy day, I won't use the tripod at all. This is my setup for vlogging, but I started using it for range sessions because it was safer. It works because I have a ball pivot tripod and space in my bag.

I have an high end Manfrotto tripod as well, but the thing is so big and heavy, a pain to bring to the range, but if I'm driving, I think I'll bring it on the windy days.. This range, I sometimes cycle to, so I need everything to be lightweight. I never knew about the hook and weight thing. That will come in handy for my next tripod purchase. Thanks.

I have a tabletop tripod with a ball head. Not sure if it'll support a point and shoot, but was thinking of doing this if I ever feel like taking video on the course.

I'm not sure you are using the proper clubs for that lie! :-) On really windy days, I try to find the least windy spot to film.  But even then, the video can be shaky and make it seasick inducing.
