The season is nearing it's end in many areas around the world, and stores often give you good discounts.

I'm looking at buying some balls, and has currently found RockBottomGolf where you get discount and Buy 3 get 1 free for selected items. I got lots of cheap Taylormade Penta TP some years ago with deals like these.

Ogio Grom | Callaway X Hot Pro | Callaway X-Utility 3i | Mizuno MX-700 23º | Titleist Vokey SM 52.08, 58.12 | Mizuno MX-700 15º | Titleist 910 D2 9,5º | Scotty Cameron Newport 2 | Titleist Pro V1x and Taylormade Penta | Leupold GX-1

When do golf stores EVER have good deals?

Today I went to the grand opening of Golf Galaxy's new mega superstore near me and even after the so called discounts the prices were still higher than my clubs pro shop.

The store was really awesome, 8 hitting bays and fitting stations plus 3 specialty rooms for fitting Ping, Callaway and Taylormade. Suprised Titleist was not represented but still a really cool place. I really have no clue how these places stay in business. I guess some folks don't mind paying $50 more for the same putter as elsewhere.

Our Maine/New Hampshire golf store (Golf and Ski warehouse) has some decent deals IMHO. I watch prices closely and they have sales that are solid. I bought my new C130 bag for $174, when they had a 20% off sale. Idk what they have for golf balls ATM.

I think it's harder to get good deals on equipment, markup isn't as high as some other items.  I find good deals at The Golf Warehouse .  They will have super deals on clothes and I've gotten a fair share of ball deals also.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

If your club is private or semi-private they usually offer a discount to members on current products that is up to 25% off MSRP which is pretty significant compared to the box stores selling at or close to MSRP.

I don't know, I found some reasonably priced balls at my local Golfsmith a few weeks ago. Snake Eyes for $12.99 or so... maybe a bit less. Same thing for some Wilson Elite 50's... I picked up 2 dozen Snake Eyes (1 of their soft distance ball and 1 of their extreme distance ball.) I've been pleased with the extreme distance ball but I've lost most of them. I'll see how I like the others.

I tried to find a deal on a golf glove or two or three but unfortunately, I'm left handed so the selection there at Golfsmith was pretty sparse.

I'm wondering if there are going to be any Black Friday deals on golf stuff at stores or online... I'm hoping to pick up a Clikgear 3.5 and gift it to me for my birthday.

I don't play golf, I play at golf. There's a difference.

Not sure now, but in the past Target Stores use to do the the clearance thing with their premium golf stuff. Pro V1s for 20 dollars for a box of 12 was not uncommon. Golf stand bags for $10-$15. All kinds of sports related stuff dirt cheap.

Of course where I live, our new season is just beginning.....again.

As far as on-line sites, I love global golf, I 've always gotten good deals. They have always delivered the products they advertised at good prices. I've been watching for deals, knowing that there maybe some coupon codes because of the Ryder Cup. This may be common knowledge or all on-line sites may do it but a 20% Ryder Cup coupon just popped up in an e-mail for Rock Bottom Golf and guess what he jacked his prices up on items I had been looking at to just about wipe out the discount. I had signed up for his e-mails but now I'll just ignore them because a company that does this does not deserve my business. I'll stick with Global Golf or others.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
