Just looking in terms of reaction time. A Tennis player receiving a 100 mph serve has about 0.6 seconds for the ball to go from servers racket to the other side baseline. For an MLB receiving a 95 mph fastball, they have about 0.40 seconds from pitchers hand to the plate.

So really an MLB HOF has a harder time in terms of reaction time to hit a fastball.

Since MLB players are use to seeing fast moving objects, I think they could easily get use to a 100 mph tennis serve.

Yet there are a lot of MLB HOF that can't play golf?  and that ball is traveling 0 mph when being hit....  Go figure lol

Regarding the tennis serve, just because it bounces and slows down doesn't necessarily make it any easier. It can be argued that the change in speed and variation of surface/bounce can make it more difficult. Having said that, the sweet spot on a tennis racquet is huge and all you really have to do is let the energy from the ball do most of the work.

Yea, and MLB players don't usually contend with just guys who throw fastballs. I was just comparing something similar between the two, that would be reaction time needed. Though it would be closer because the fastest serves in Tennis are about 135-140 mph not 100 mph.

I recall a time when 110mph was considered a fast serve.

Yeah, fast.

The charts, I attached earlier, seem to indicate that taller tennis players also serve faster. That's leverage, I guess.

What if they made clubs much longer and bigger, as big and long as needed. Would that increase the height of the touring pros?

I used to play tennis as a junior. Was pretty good. I had a very powerful serve and forehand and a respectable backhand, but what really separated me from the others was my ability to return others first serves. I rarely has a first serve returned on me. I has a steel Wilson T-3000. Was a pretty good baseball player too. I could hit all but the wickedest curves but was a sucker for a high fastball. What was this thread about again? Oh yeah. Pipe dreams. Being really long off the tee consistently for me again is a pipe dream. I've had multiple rotator cuff issues. The connecting muscles are so weak. It takes a lot of patient work too build them up. I used to be a regular weight lifter. Incorrect form caused my shoulder issues. Now I'm a finesse player. :-)
