Seeing that most of yall are way past my age i was wondering if you could tell me a past job of yours before you were 16(besides mowing the lawn...i tried but in my neighberhood you get the professionals for the stuff that really matters)

I pumped gas at 15.

I worked my up to a class B auto mechanic (ASE certified by age 18), and was on call with a tow truck 24/7.

Did some skits in a couple Firestone service shops in the area, then took a year off at age 21 to travel the east coast playing pool.

Got into sheet metal working at 22, 23 or so, then sent myself to school for computer drafting(AutoCad 12 at the time), and now I run AutoCad 2004 for a lighting manufacturer.

Before 16 I never had a "steady" job. I would do work for my Dad and relatives that needed an extra hand with yard work or construction(building decks, plumbing, destruction, pouring concrete, etc). My parents never wanted me to have a real job that might interfere with school by working nights, so I worked in their office after school. Mostly doing filing, answering phones, computer stuff, etc. In college, I waited tables at a 50's style Diner, but only for about 4 months. The owner's lazy ass son took my hours, so I opted to work some shifts as a dishwasher. Horrible work, I wasn't trained in dishwashing...I showed up and they said "Get to it." My shift was over at 10:00 p.m., but I didn't finish until 2:00 a.m. So I quit that to go back to waiting, but since they were shady about all their business practices, they told me that I couldn't because the owner's son had taken the rest of my hours. So I quit and moved on to working at a Sonic flipping burgers. Not a bad job if you don't mind sweating your ass off and smelling like french fries. I eventually began working 60+ hours a week there and was performing a lot of the management duties, but I wasn't receiving the management pay. I quit that when I began commuting back and forth to my new college. I did some odd jobs for varied amounts of money, some of them may be refered to as "illegal," but they put money in my pocket. Ah, the joys of being a computer geek. Then I had an internship for the Network Admin of my college. And now I'm currently working for a Damage Prevention Company that sends me all over the world to fix problems.

Maybe get a job as a caddy? Do they still have those? Every course I've been to(even the super nice country clubs) have replaced the caddy with the golf cart.

Before 16, and even after I worked on a farm.. Picking Rock, (yes, rocks grow, at least it seems that way) bailing hay, shoveling you know what. Farms don't pay that well, but they almost always need help, and usually feed you.

At 14 I worked on a golf course. 16 and 17 I worked at a computer company in the shipping department, hooked up by my Dad. 17 and 18 I worked at the local Vans Shoes store.

Only job i remember doing pre school-leaving age was picking potatoes !!!

You used to get paid by weight and because of that we wer'nt ever too careful about chucking a few stones in along with the potatoes......

When the boss used to come round and check our boxes,even now i can hear him saying...

"......them stones dont cook or eat too well BOY " !!!!!!!!!


Never stopped us once he'd dissapeared again though.........

I mowed lawns and worked at the zoo (ran the merry-go-round ride). Easy stuff, really. In the US, at least back then, you couldn't officially work until you were 15, and even then only with a parental consent type form.

at my home course we have 4 - 6 guys in your age working part-time helping unloading clubs at the bag drop, cleaning them after the round and helping loading them into the cars. It's a nominal salary, but with the tips and free golf - it seems like a great gig. Try to find smoething like that in your area.

Where in NC do you live? I worked at a golfcourse off and on until I was 17 or so. Best job I ever had, boss would let me come clock in and play 18 holes, as long as my job was done at the end of the day. I just had to fill the water coolers and clean and park all of the golf carts. Pay wasnt very good, but can you beat getting paid to play?

This most likely won't apply to many looking for work here, but I was a deckhand on a fishing boat. We would pick up tourists from a cruise ship and take them fishing for four hours. That was a really fun job... meeting new people, laughing at them try to fish (only after we dropped them off), enjoying the water, and hey... it was fishing.

The tips were decent most the time and I got to do something really fun.

Oh, and I mowed lawns.

I was a drummer in a rock & roll band that was working in clubs and on tour. I had to hide behind my kit when the cops came in because I was under age. When my friends were making 3 bucks an hour at McDonalds, I was bringing in hundreds per night playing rock & roll.

Never had a day job ever since...

Been working for same newspaper at night for 30 years bad for life but great for golf game!!!

I am 15 right now and I wirk for an insurance company. Basically what I do is all the other crap other "important" people dont want to, (refill toner, refill paper, clean out file room, clean out boss office, etc..) It pays well and I work in an office building with a/c.

I worked at a golf course also. Cleaning carts as they came in, shagging balls on the range, cleaning the locker rooms. There are a lot of things to do at a course that even people who need money won't do. I also worked at an Orange Julius. Fast food joints are not fun to work at. I'd rather be outside. BTW, while I was shagging balls, I would go through 100 bottles of beer on the wall about 5 times. Time went by quicker.

My first job was as a caddie at a Country Club when I was 15 years old. I was only moderately interested in golf at the time but it was a pretty cool job.
