I've been a lurker for a while, but finally decided it is time to get involved on the boards. I've been playing golf for about 10 years, but only about 5 or 6 seriously. I was playing a low as a 10 a few Summers ago and have spent the last few years trying to get back there. I changed clubs from game improvement to blades and starting working on shaping my shots and saw my scores and my handicap steadily climb. I know shaping shots is essential, but it really did a number on my scores for a couple years.

Currently, I typically shoot in the mid to high 80s. I have a hole in one on a 95 yard par 3 (does that count??), and I am hopelessly addicted to this game. This past year I tore my rotator cuff and had to take 3 months off swinging to rest and do physical therapy (luckily no surgery as of yet). I picked up clubs again in September and have been playing better and better and am back down to a 12 or 13 handicap. Unfortunately, winter is now here and even though I got out for 9 holes on Sunday I am already in withdrawal.

I have learned to hit a draw pretty consistently, but my misses are usually a push that doesn't come back or a draw that starts left. I can't stand the way my swing looks on video, and I think I know the causes, but I'm afraid to make major changes and have to face another couple years of struggling. I'm not sure if I should stick with the swing that works halfway decent for me or try to overhaul it. I will get around to posting a swing thread soon to get some feedback, but I just wanted to introduce myself! Looking forward to meeting lots of fellow golf obsessed people!

Thanks! What courses do you typically play?

I'm in Middlesex county, so I play Tamarack and Rutgers. Started playing 9 holes at Hyatt Hills in Clark recently, which is a pretty decent course. I've been to other courses around, but these are my regular spots. What about you?

Haha! That's funny...I live in Westfield so Hyatt Hills is the next town over and the course I play 2nd most. I'm getting my Masters at Rutgers right now, so that is my #1 course that I play right now (gotta take advantage of the $15 greens fee while I still can!) I'm sure we've crossed paths somewhere along the way!

Will definitely do that! I checked out your swing thread. Great looking swing and I can see you put a ton of time in at the Rutgers and Hyatt ranges! I have a feeling next year you'll see some big scoring improvements my friend....

Thanks for the compliment. We should definitely meet up sometime; I can help you get good video of your swing and stuff.
