I think I heard he's playing on an injury exemption.

That par three 17th on the Palmer course is pretty scary...

JD with a nice little 69 (31-38) to start, seeing if he can string 3 rounds together to play on Sunday (Daly)

the "other" JD starting out his year with that weight loss didn't help with his 76 (Dufner)

Players play, tough players win!

I don't know that I would bet money on it but I sure would like to see the first JD win.  He certainly has talent if he can just keep himself together long enough he'd be a force to be dealt with.

15 ain't much easier. There are a couple of bunkers as a safety net, but otherwise it's a very similar hole. That whole stretch from 14 through 17 plays right along that ditch. It's certainly intriguing but it's not very aesthetically pleasing. I wish they could give the ditch a little makeover and make it a little less utilitarian looking.

Perhaps the pros aren't quite as superhuman as we sometimes like to think. On the Par 5 18th hole of the Palmer private course, where everybody I've seen so far has been pounding their driver, the longest of the day has been 313 and the average is 276 yards.

Is this the course that was televised on the GC today?

Mostly yeah. They show a little bit here and there from the other two courses but the PP is the main course (that they all play Sunday) so that's where the majority of the cameras are.

I think these are pretty courses too in a desert beauty kind of way.   The water holes are challenging as are the par 3s.

Should be a good finish today.  Kuch was on fire but stumbled at the end yesterday and the top of the leaderboard is very heavy.  For me...its so much harder to watch golf on TV now that Tiger, isnt playing unconscious like he used to, but still trying to to enjoy it for what it is and pull for some of these guys.  Its gotten to where I only watch the majors if those....Id rather just tee it up myself, but I'll tune in today and see what happens.

I noticed that too. It was the hole where they had the ProTracer and the yardage grid, right? Guys were hitting well struck shots and they were landing at 270 and rolling out to 285. Longest carry I saw was maybe 295. I saw one guy carried only 255.

    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
    • Let's kick off the 2026 Masters talk with… a look back at 2025 (coming soon):
    • Wow, so Europe named Luke for a third term. Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Who will the U.S. name? I hope not Tiger Woods.
    • I am playing Arrowhead for the first time and I am pumped.  What are some things that I need to make sure and appreciate, for those that have played it before and love it? It has been a pretty dry winter so I am expecting rough to be forgiving which is nice and it will be playing much easier than it does in the late summer (I am assuming based on other colorado courses).  What should I make sure to not miss?
