Do you ever get to Golf for free ? For example:The job pays for it, you know someone, or you're on a team.....

I sure do love free Golf, it doesn't come too often, but when it does it sure is awesome.Working in the entertainment business has certainly been beneficial sometimes to helping me play without having to pay green fees. I get to play in the morning because I comped someone tickets to my show and bought them a round of drinks. Golfnow used to help with getting free golf but that's changed in the last two years with the new rewards program.

I always try to spend more on food and drinks and tip better than usual if I do get comped for golf, it's only fair. Anyhow, If I could golf for free everyday of my life, I'd sell my soul for pennies on the dollar, just saying.

I sometimes get free golf...not nearly enough however. It usually is in the form of a company outing/tournament or I get to expense my round when I take a customer to play. And, on rare occasions, my friends will pick up my green fees.

Good luck on your round! What type of performances do you do?

A couple of years I won a free round for my place in my league.  It was at a nice course too.

Finally, my moment to really brag.  I can't hit it straight and 350 yards, with my 1 iron.  My low round doesn't start with a "6".  I have had, however, some great 5-8 day trips entirely paid during the past 8 years.

Of course we are not schlepping around at 3 star hotels.  Old Course Hotel and Gleneagles Resort, The Carolina, The Inn at Spanish Bay, etc...  I am still on an emotional high from the trip to St. Andrews.

My club sometimes asks me to help out and run check-in at tournaments -- getting players their scorecards, that sort of thing. In exchange, I play that day for free -- which is doubly awesome, because not only do I get to play one of my favorite courses for free (I'd have to pay for cart if I were to ride, but I walk), but I'm eligible for prizes (closest to the pin, low net by flight, etc).

Played free golf all over the state for high school and college golf. Now I work at a golf course and get free golf there Tuesdays and Thursdays. Only really pay for golf when I go exploring other courses on the weekends

I didn't think this thread all the way through, this might make enemies among one another.

Caddies usually get to play free on Mondays at a lot of courses.

When I worked the driving range at a local country club, I had the opportunity to play any day after 4:30.

I also worked as a part-time caddie master at a different club, and I was able to schedule a tee time, when the schedule wasn't crowded, for myself and up to 3 friends, free cart included.

Also, a number of local clubs in our area give people part-time jobs, such as starter, grass cutter, or pro shop staff for free golf, with little or no remuneration.

Drivers: Bag 1 - TM R11 (10.5°); Bag 2 - Ping G5 (9°),
Fairway woods: #1 - TM RBZ Tour (14.5°) & TM System 2 Raylor (17°); #2 - TM Burner (15°) & TM V-Steel (18°)
Hybrid: #1 - TM Rocketballz (19°); #2 - Ping G5 (19°)
Irons: #1 - Ping i3+; #2 - Hogan Edge  (both 4-pw, +1" shaft)
Wedges: #1 - Ping i3+ U wedge (52°) & Ping Eye 2+ BeCu (60°); #2 - Ping ISI Sand BeCu (52°) & Cleveland CG11 lob (60°)
Putters: Ping B60i & Anser 2, Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball & White Hot XG #9, Lamkim Jumbp grips
Golf Balls: Titleist Pro V1, Bridgestone B330, Callaway SR1, Slazenger Grips: Lamkin Crossline
Golf Shoes: Footjoy & Adidas; Golf Glove: Footjoy StaSof®; Golf Bag: Ping Hoofer
I love this game! :-D

I nearly never pay for golf.

i have team practice everyday which is obviously free. Also, my dad works at a course too, so I get to play for free there. I'm probably gonna get getting a cart boy job too which I would assume would give me free golf at that course.

Working at a golf course, even part-time, usually nets you some golf privileges depending on the course. The course I worked at last summer gave me free golf and range balls Monday-Friday and free golf only after 2 PM on weekends which was a pretty good deal. I plan on working there again, in addition to caddying at a nearby private course that would give free me free range balls and then access to the par 3 and championship course depending on availability.

To be honest, last year I made about $40/hr if you factored in the golf benefits. Not too bad for getting up early on the weekends to rake bunkers on a little 3-wheeler and washing some carts! :-D

All the time. I play so much, spend so much at the courses I frequent I get a lot of free golf. Sometimes it's comps for the cart or free range tokens.

Just played some free golf yesterday. I have about 10 free rounds from certificates but they are usually at courses I only go to for tournaments and are quite the drive. I have two friends who are PGA teaching professionals who get me on at some private courses here and there which is nice.

When I was doing political consulting one of my duties was talking to every day voters and asking them what they're looking for in a candidate. Of course I did most of my canvassing on the golf course. I also get to travel a lot for work so I get to play a variety of places. So if a guy comes up to you on the course and asks you about the election don't hit him, because it's probably me. :)

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

I do not have to pay for golf at times. I am friends with a guy who is friends with someone who gets two foursomes daily with cart for the work he does on the course. Since he doesn't play much, he tells my buddy to use his account and I get run over fringe benefits... It is a very nice track as well to boot.

Incredible...Those are "Bucket List" courses!  I may never get the opportunity to PAY to play any of those, and your playing them for free?  Must be nice...

I've played many, many, many rounds of free golf over the years. Mostly corporate events..........scrambles.....Ugggh....the bright side is these are played on company time! 'm not a fan of playing scrambles, but it is a day spent playing golf on company time. I won't bitch. I rarely pay to play.....(per visit)......I always have a club membership, so in a sense......... I can play everyday without spending a dollar. Yes, I'm still paying, but it's not like I need to decide whether to spend XXX amount of dollars to play any given day.
