My Dad and I

When I’m 4   years old – My Dad is the best!

When I’m 6   years old – My Dad knows everyone

When I’m 10 years old – My Dad is perfect but has a slight temper

When I’m 12 years old – My Dad was nice when I was younger

When I’m 14 years old – My Dad started to get too sensitive and nitpicky

When I’m 16 years old – My Dad is just not up to date with the time

When I’m 18 years old – My Dad is getting grumpier by the day

When I’m 20 years old – There is no way I’m going to befriend My Dad, how did I put up with him all these years

When I’m 25 years old – My Dad objects to everything I do

When I’m 30 years old – I just can’t agree with My Dad, My Grandpa must have really suffered when my dad was a young guy

When I’m 40 years old – My Dad has raised me on a strong foundation, I need to do the same with my kids

When I’m 45 years old – I wonder, How in the world did my Dad ever raise all of us?

When I’m 50 years old – I can’t control my kids, My dad must have suffered and gone through a lot of trouble trying to raise us an take care of us

When I’m 55 years old – My Dad had foresight and planned many things for us, he was truly special and nice

When I’m 60 years old – My Dad is the best!

It took 56 years to go back to the beginning when I was 4 years old and figure out again that My Dad is the best.  Let us all be better to our father before it is too late, and let us pray that our children treat us better than the way we treated our parents.

* I translated this from a message that was written in Arabic, I hope not much was lost in translation.

I have to admit I wasn't able to hold my tears back when I read it in Arabic to my wife and kids.
