I think the media was too quick to start the Rory vs. Jordan conversation. My guess is Rory thought so too. Tomorrow Rory will turn up the heat.

Well the golf media really wants Speith to be the next Tiger as far as captivating fans.  Seems like a nice, mild mannered player who would get the good guy award every year if they had one so as to market the hell out of him.

I haven't taken a look at the stats, but Rory looked very VERY good. He looked like a player that could have easily shot -5 or -6 today. Just needed a couple more birdie putts to go in, and less hitting of sprinkler heads.

I'm stickin with my boy, smell a great round tomorrow. Although, Rory is just cruisin right now, could be the start of one of his streaks which should alarm the whole field.

Sorry for the multi-post, just saw this. I don't think they were quick at all. I projected this rivalry some time ago. Seems the media didn't jump on this story til Spieth hit #2, which was probably about right. Come June, I have a feeling there will only be 2 guys holding the current major trophies. Would be nice if it were 2-2 but I'd be happy with 3-1.

I doubt that is going to happen. Rory and Jordan are 1 & 2 right now but I don't think either is so much consistently greater than the field that so as to take all 4 Majors.

Well, it's a gut feeling, much like the one I had last night that Spieth would spank Rors today so it's pretty damn reliable.

Have a nice weekend Jordan.

Haha, he just needs a couple birdies to make the cut!

But yeah, Rory has kicked his arse thus far.

He has some serious frowny action after stubbing that chip. YIPS!

Too bad would have been nice to see him with the leaders.

Rory McIlroy. -4

Jordan Spieth. +3 (MC)

Rory wins the 2 round pairing, and also outshines Jordan in hair at 21 years old. Funny quote below the pic.

I have absolutely no logical reasoning for this, but seeing Rory with a Titleist makes me smile. Wish he was still rocking the Titleist gear.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Fatigue finally caught up with Jordan -- not the same player we've seen.

It was only a matter of when, not if.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
