We have a saying at our work that 20% of employees end up doing 80% of work.   It's not that bad in reality but you get the picture.

But in this forum, it seems 20/80 rule applies.   20% of the members are posting 80% of all posts.   Agree or disagree with the observation?   Any other 20/80 rule you have seen that you want to share?

Some software/games I have used, it seems that if 80% of it works ... then they package and ship! I would also agree with the posting assessment, probably less than 20% if it like a forum I moderate ...

We have a saying at my work (for supervisors/managers) that "5% of your people cause 95% of your work".  I'd say the 5/95 is even closer when it comes to the forum, and it's also true for most online forums - not just TST.  A lot of people register just because they have one particular question, or want to offer a comment in one particular thread, and you never hear from them again.  I don't know the exact membership numbers for TST, but I'd almost be willing to bet that the number of regularly active/posting members is much closer to 5% than 20%.  I moderate on a couple other forums and the numbers are similar there as well.

As far as any other 20/80 rules, I'd say that on some days 20% of the holes amount to 80% of my score! :-)

There are a little over 39k members on the site with over 1M posts.. There 10 members with over 10% of the posts and probably a 100 with over 20% of the posts (Erik with the most posts at over 41k) So, yeah I would say that the number is less than 5%.. It might not even make .5%.

Silly me. I never noticed that was there because the "New Posts" section is where I have the site bookmarked.

80% of your results come from 20% of your effort. This is from some work efficiency/time management seminars. Apparently the other 80% of your effort is wasted on inefficient work practices and TST.

    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
