Hello, all!

My name is John and I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I commute to Dallas for work as an IT Manager for a physicians group.

I started golfing intermittently when I was about 10 years old. I played a lot when I was in the U.S. Air Force back in the 1990's. I was addicted. Once I got married at the end of 1999, my golf weekends started slipping away. Right after our first child was born in 2000, I pretty much stopped playing golf - not by choice. I have been wanting to get back to playing since then, but kids and financial hardships kept me away. Now that my oldest son is 15, he is interested in picking up the game. This was my 'in'! I am starting to swing the clubs again and plan on getting my son and I a few lessons (or just learning from this forum first), since I haven't swung a club much in the past 15 years.

I have old technology from my past playing days but hope to start buying some newer equipment soon. I used to be a 15 handicap and hit Titleist DCI 962 irons (which I still have.) But I recently went to the local PGA Tour Superstore to hit some clubs to see what might fit me best. A golf pro had me hit several types of irons (after warming up a bit) and I seemed to hit the Nike VR_S X irons the best. I haven't purchased them yet, but I feel they would be a good step back into the game and my son and I could share the clubs until I get my game back. (And they are only $300!) I plan on hitting some clubs at Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith to see if my swing points to the same clubs, or if I get different results.

I just found this forum via Google and it looks like this is THE place for talking golf. I look forward to getting a lot out of the forums and hope to contribute where I can.

I will be in Saginaw later this summer for 2 or 3 days. Usually let that Rockwood track kick my back side just for drill. Will see if you are available later on.

Let me know when you are in town. It would be cool to hit the links with a fellow TSTer.

    • Day 9, May 13.  After work, I went to my practice room for a dozen balls (two sessions of a half dozen each).  I may do more later, but I wanted to make sure I posted here too.  Same priority as yesterday, with the arms lifting.
    • Day 263 6-13 Setup alignment stick station for hands off body drill. Worked on wrist arch as well. Working on not hitting the stick 😀
    • Day 64 (13 May 26) - last practice of golf team for the school golf team….got to hit a few balls while working with the kids.
    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)
