DT represents well a fairly significant group of the populous - those that aren't necessarily politically correct, and those that like his Washington DC outsider image.     I think a lot of people are sick and tired of lying politicians from both sides of the aisle.    With DT, you know what you get.

Why is "knowing what you get" so special to so many people? Being predictable and crazy aren't mutually exclusive. Give me somebody with some sanity who also plays it close to the vest every day (over transparent but crazy) of the week please.

He speaks his mind, unfiltered, and it is attracting some people.  But what he says is often wrong if not mostly unrealistic to follow through.  His charisma is making people overlook these fallacies for now.  Will those early DT supports overlook his recent comment on McCain?   DT's unfiltered speeches will eventually catch up with him and his polling numbers will start to erode.   For now, the love affair between DT's supporters and DT is entertaining and I will enjoy while it last.   My 2 cents.

I agree 100%. Ive got quite a few coworkers who are pretty right-wing and they love Trump.  I wouldnt contend though, that they are a little racist and very anti-immigrant and believe in some right-wing agenda that illegal immigrants are taking all these jobs away from honest, hard-working Americans.  Trump plays into their fears and their beliefs that immigrants are bad and we need to purify American, in a way.

The problem with Trump though, is that other than ranting about immigrants, he really has no real ideas.  Also, just like with how it went with Romney; he has completely alienated Latino voters and whether he likes it or not, he needs those voters if he is going to win.

There are a few people in NY that are actually accusing Trump of being a closet democrat and trying to mess up the Republican party with his outrageous comments.  The belief is based on his past support for the Clintons and Hillary as well as his known dislike of GW.  The theory is he will turn the GOP into a shambles and drop out or he will remain in the race and act as a Ross Perot to draw enough votes away from the GOP nominee that they can't win.

I scoffed at the idea initially but after his comments on McCain I'm not so sure.

Oh, come on... y'all are sounding like paranoid Texans and Jade 15. Do not begin listening to Alex Jones! :-$

I know a kid (30 yrs old) who listens to him. The kid suffers from schizophrenia.

Trump is an outlier, a narcissist, and requires people to look at him. He apparently believes he can help this country. But he is challenged mentally as to the art of government ... not the government we have, but the government we should have.

Either way, DT is a bad news for the Republicans.  Is DT going to run as independent when he does not get the nomination?   If he runs as independent, that will seal the victor for the Dems.  Given his ego, he probably believes he can win as an independent.

IMO if he runs as an independent then the Sharpton theory is right because there's no way with him running the GOP beats Hillary.

I give absolutely zero credence to anything that race-baiting assclown says.  Although TST allows fairly strong language here in the forums, I still couldn't stay within the (very reasonable) constraints here with the language I'd use to express my feelings toward him.

I feel the same way about Sharpton but when you look at some of the outlandish things Trump has said, the way he's turned on the other GOP candidates and his past support for the Clintons, it's not completely without any basis.  His comments feed into the rhetoric that the democrats like to spew about the GOP, he's attempting to discredit current and past GOP candidates and he's getting more airtime and media coverage than Hillary could ever hope for.

It would be within Trumps character to spend the next 6 months destroying the GOP and then drop out and support Hillary in exchange for some favorable tax credits or construction contracts when she's elected.

...and it would be within her character to grant such graft in exchange - then deny any knowledge of it.

This is going to be a tricky election for me because I feel that all the potential candidates from both parties are scumbags.  At this point it feels like the only possibility will be nothing more than voting for the lesser of two evils.  Extremists on the left, extremists on the right, nobody down the middle looking out for the average American.  On the right we have the Christian Taliban and on the left we have the New Socialist Party and neither of them care one bit about their constituents - it's all about advancing their party's ideology and ensuring that the other party gets nothing accomplished and no credit for any positive change.  The whole system needs a giant enema.

Trump never has and never will be a democrat.  You guys are now being paranoid. Also, I first heard it here.

As for Sharpton, I have no use for that man either. Both are very similar. They feel the need to comment on everything to get their name in the paper. They say outrageous things to create buzz. This type of person, whether liberal or conservative, is what polarizes the country.

    • For me it would be opt 1 , even though it’s a watching it slip away scene.  I believe it was Brando who lamented at the end of Streetcar Named Desire that he could’ve been a contender….would I be like @ChetlovesMer’s friend?  I hope not, but to know that for a moment I was giving the  win a run for the money would be a great memory…

    • After a bit of a lean spell managed to birdie stroke hole one, long par five. Ball striking best it’s been for a while short game exactly the opposite. Had so many opportunities to post good scores last three or four games, failed miserably😀
    • Would You Rather #69 For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.  Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.  or  Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.  Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.
