Not exactly relevant, but those white trousers are horrible. You can see their legs in certain light.

Absolutely. Before this season I was hoping for an other Dutch speaking player, but no way he could have done better :-)

He's doing great. A bit nervous yesterday at the start but very solid now.

Hope he can keep this up for the remainder of the holes and for tomorrow's singles.

PGA Tour keeps tweeting McIlroy, in full leonine lion roaring Rory mode. Just let it out, McIlroy, let those repressed feelings go :-P

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Rors went OB trying to make birdie to close out the match. Why not if you're 4 up?

The American fans are the rowdiest bunch I've ever seen, I don't recall the USA players receiving so much grief at Gleneagles, there's been some pretty poor behaviour IMO.

They shouted 'fore' when Webb Simpson was teeing off for the first time. According to Rory's critique that's rooting for bad shots. Take off the halo and be honest.

That wasn't a couple of idiots cheering that ball into the water. That was hundreds, if not thousands. Doesn't sit right with me.

American or not, he seems like a real asshole.

Rory is usually a nice guy, but after that exchange with DJ trying to throw him off his shot with BS over who's away that moniker may fit Rors too today. Now who's looking like a hyper-competitive jerk?

If you play the heel expect to get a reaction from the crowd.  I was in my house cheering Rory's ball heading into the water.

Cheering against the opponent is what goes on in EVERY other team sport...I don't think team golf should have to be any different. It's a different animal than individual golf and I think is allowed to be treated differently. If I were in those stands I don't think I'd be vocally doing it, but as long as folks aren't shouting in back swings or the like, then I don't think it's totally out of line.

No, I don't expect it. USA has had plenty of assholes playing up to the crowd in Europe, and I've never heard anything remotely like this.

Anyway, USA really impressive in the last hour. That second match is huge.

    • Has anyone played around with "My Strategy?"  It seems they've revamped it -- I remember not liking the interface a while ago.  Today I went over a course I play semi-often and was able to designate a tee box for each hole, then choose a a club and target direction and it put my scatter pattern for that club off the tee, showing average SG for fairway / rough / bunker (if appropriate) / green.  I could change the club and see how another behaved.  It wasn't clear to me what I can gain from this, or where the follow-up shot supposedly originates, but it is neat to look at it on a map. What motivated me is that I'm debating taking less than driver on one of the par-4s next time I play this course, probably 4-Wood.  I have found myself, sometimes off of a good tee shot, playing my second shot from the tree line, as the fairway slopes strong left to right.  I don't think I've even had a near-GIR on that hole in 2026 (6 rounds at this course), and it's my second-worst strokes-gained hole, playing to an average of 5.3 for me -- the only worse is a hole where I've hit an O.B. en route to a bogey and also managed a triple bogey another round. Scattering my 4W pattern off that tee shows a higher strokes gained, but then again, hitting that club is far from a guarantee I won't fade it a bit and roll into the tree line, now further back from the green.  And I haven't hit a bunted driver in a while, maybe I need to practice that shot, but that isn't something this feature can show (since it doesn't know why my tee shots ended up where they did).  Then again, it might not know where I was aiming for my tee shots either. On a related note, I am finding their course analysis tool interesting, especially when I can sort by strokes gained average and also determine which hole(s) I'm playing to what stroke average.  Interesting that the #2 and #4 handicap I'm averaging under bogey, while 5-6-7 and 12 handicap holes I'm averaging over bogey.  The hole I described a moment ago is the #12 handicap.
