Both captains front loading certainly gives Europe their best chance of success, but I don't see a Rory win as a given. I've not seen any stats, but it feels like Reed had scored just as well as Mcilroy.

How is who plays who decided? Do the captains know the team pairings and tee times of the other team? Do they talk about it and work out the matches? Or, say for the singles matches today, does Love "secretly" put his 12 in a time slot with Clarke doing the same, and only then do the matches get decided....???

I have searched a LOT of articles for this answer and can't find one. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and go USA! Let's also stop the damn heckling! All it's doing is firing up the European players and also setting a nasty stage for the US at the next one.

WHow are the pairings made?  Does home team set their lineup first and the visiting team sets the pairing or is it reverse?

Each team "orders" their pairings from 1-12, without knowing the order of the other team. #1 is then matched against #1, etc.

So, you can't blame the captain too much. It's not like he picked Reed against Rory.

Also, just because Reed is hot right now, it doesn't mean he's the best US player. Let's not turn him into 2005 Tiger just based on two days of play.

I'm rooting for Rory in the first match over 6-year old Patrick Reed. I'll root for USA in the other 11.

One final note...it's fine to get fired up and excited after a putt or shot, but it's another thing to act like Patrick Reed has. I can't stand it.

I think the Reed hate is excessive. Rory has been acting like the six year old this week IMO.

I think they are all acting like highly competitive athletes competing in a team format at the highest level. It's an absolute embarrassment.  :-P

Yeah, I really don't understand the comment about Reed.  How is anything that he has done different than what Rory (or many others) has done?  I don't think either party has acted like 6 year old, I think they're playing with more passion than they do at any other golf event and it's great to watch IMO.  And this is coming from a guy who can only stand Patrick Reed for three days every two years....

Also Pieters is finding out that the Ryder Cup is a lot more difficult when you don't get to ride Rory's shoulders the whole time...  It's one on one now and he looks overmatched.

Reeds excitement is fake. Rorys comes right out at moment it happens. Reed just does it to get crowd going.

Rory hasnt been as bad as Reed. Plus I think Rory's stems from anger at the crowd. Reeds celebrations look too fake to me. It just looks bad.

I see it the exact opposite. Rory's come across as reactionary and petulant to me.

LOL... Ummm no...

I hate Patrick Reed - except for this weekend - but these comments are so off the mark it's laughable...

Whatever.  When you see Rory say cmon with his yell , that comes from within.Pure emotion. Reed has to act like hes having a seizure and over do it which looks fake to me. Watch my two favorites Phil and Sergio play. You wont see all that stuff. Sergio gives lil fist pump like phil does, no yelling.

Disagree. I am not a Reed fan, and this weekend is making me hate him more. He needs to stop acting like a friggin 3-year old. And like it's been mentioned, he's not the only one.

This discussion reminds me of my grumpy old grandfather complaining about touchdown celebrations in the NFL.

Not anymore! Two birdies in a row...back to even.

No it's dumber than that, it's your Grandpa complaining about Antonio Brown's dancing while lauding Victor Cruz's salsa...

Rory staring down fans every time he makes a putt. What a joke. Something must have made the guy forget that he's a 5'7 leprechaun.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
