Did anyone else hear that noise during Scott Piercy's swing?

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"

Pitching wedges into par 5s? Come on PGA. You can make the course tougher than this. I might be able to go under par here.

It probably doesn't hurt that he hit his drive 380.

It's not just him. Guys have been hitting short irons in there all day. Thank God we're going to get some wind tomorrow or else 20-under would be in serious play. I don't mind good scoring, but this is a little too easy for my taste. It's a major. I want to see some carnage every now and then.

Dammit Jason Day is ripping this place apart.

Spieth and Day!

Think your right, and if the weather is to be low wind tomorrow, they are going to make the pin placements horrible, best putter will win it. Speith,,,

Yeah but, you would not do much for the tv ratings. Being a no name and all.

I could care less about tv ratings. I don't work at CBS. I care about Jason Day winning. I have a $500 ticket waiting for me if he wins.

Damn Jason Day would have been my gambling pick. Didn't even think about betting these tournaments.

Day will likely get to -17 by the end of the day. Jones, Finau, and Rose really need a few more birdies.

I feel like I'm watching the John Deere Classic with this scoring.

Round 1 scoring average: 74.15

Round 2 scoring average: 72.94

Round 3 scoring average: 70.71 (so far)

Players on average more than 2 strokes better than yesterday, but these guys made the cut unlike all yesterday.

I figured D.J. Was way behind considering lack of coverage today. Weird that he wasn't covered very much at 9 under...

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
