This reminds me of Cassius Clay refusing to be drafted.  Regardless how famous he was, and what kind of religious belief he had, the US government didn't make an exception.   Bae's exception request is for his personal gain, and frankly, one that shouldn't have been made in the 1st place.   As I have stated before, there have been many noteworthy Korean athletics who went to serve the military service knowing that a two year break may end their athletic career.   What makes Bae special compare to others?   None.

Right. So if Bae truly felt strongly about it, he could refuse and serve hall time for what he believed in. Like Clay. But it appears as though that's not his slant.

Not for this time. He's going to participate in PGA championship and seems the decision will be set after it.
