Another ESPN'er out, was supposed to be later, but some comments that he said about Dominican Baseball players got him ousted sooner.

A lot of popular Espn hosts have been removed recently.

I always thought he was a bit to arrogant at times. Didn't listen to him much. When he left the local Vegas market, it was no big deal. He will find something else.

ESPN is cleaning house of their big contracts to reduce their losses.  Colin's contract was due to expire shortly and he wasn't going to renew so I'm sure they were hoping for any reason to cut him loose sooner and potentially limit any damage he'd do at a competitors station.

I heard and read the comment and thought ESPN completely over reacted.  If it wasn't for all the Donald Trump / Mexico fallout and his contract status I highly doubt Cowherd would get cut for those comments.

The big question is did the comments and his firing make him too toxic to hire or will ESPN's competitors ignore the comments and hire him anyway.

I wasn't a big fan either, he tried too hard to be controversial and it was very apparent in his commentary.  I don't care for most sports talk show hosts as they all seem to think we care about their political agenda and aspire to be Howard Stern.

Does ESPN feel that they can put anybody on and people will listen? Didn't realize they had losses to reduce

I am a big fan of the herd.

Will miss listening to him if the local station does not pick him up wherever he goes.

Advertising dollars are getting diluted between television, radio and the internet.  Some of these radio guys have pretty large contracts that the advertising revenue is not or barely covering.

ESPN has let a number of people go, first Simmons, then Oberman and now Cowherd.  The rights to air sporting events like mens college football and basketball have skyrocketed and it seems the radio personalities are the ones getting pushed out.  ESPN paid $7.3 billion for the NCAA football playoffs and $15.2 billion for their NFL rights.

These increased costs combined with loss of subscribers is cited as the main reason for cutting their on air talent.

He's likely going to get picked up by Fox

I wonder if that is the main reason they moved Scott Van Pelt to a midnight sports anchor?

My understanding is in the radio game it's all about ratings and show ranking in your time slot.  The higher your ratings and rank at your time slot the more your company can demand for advertising.  In the case of these three, they weren't #1 in their time slots so the overall advertising revenue for their shows were down which usually means you're headed for the door if you won't take a pay cut.

I've never liked any of them. Most sports talk show guys piss me off. They have outlandish opinions and act like they are the God of knowledge on the topic. I see big things for Brock Huard in the future because he isn't obnoxious and listens this callers without being condescending.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
