Those long whips are a bear to swing.

The only time I've ever seen one was in a scramble where everyone was required to hit the club.

Practice swings felt good, but my shot was a low duck hook, less than a 100 yards.

I hit it a second time for giggles and at least got the ball airborne down the fairway, but it also hooked badly.

In this case, you just need to purchase the longest club that actually still works. Doesn't even have to conform to the ROG.

Doesn't anyone have a "Long Tom"? or anything similar?

These two comments back-to-back made me laugh.

I have an inexpensive 48" driver I slapped together with a lightweight component head. Recorded the fastest ball speed I ever saw on my Zelocity with it. Never managed to beat 169 with a regular length/weight driver so it's quite a boost when you really take advantage of it.

Cool, where did you get the components? Golfworks?

Diamond Tour Golf. Doesn't look like they carry that head anymore. It is only 170g, about 30-40 grams lighter than your typical driver head.
