Shot a 77 today. My driving was the exact opposite of yesterday, and it was because of one thing: I kept my chin up. Seems my chin had dropped (gotten close to my chest) and boy can that cause things to go haywire in a hurry.

I stood on the range beforehand and hit probably 50 drives, none of which went very well. Then on the first tee I thought "hey wait, this isn't right" and BAMMO: power and accuracy returned.

Shot 37 on the first nine (my course's back nine) to win my match against a 16-shotter (had to give him 6). Tied the first three with pars (to his bogey bogey par), then 5 of the last 6. Tied the other.

Didn't get a chance to play yesterday or today. In meetings until tomorrow afternoon. Won't get home in time tomorrow either. I am going crazy... Glad this is the last session of these meetings. They are cutting too much into my golf time. I normally would have tried to play today, but the temps were over 100 with high humidity and I have not been feeling that well since the heat problems on Sunday.

I shot 84 with TWELVE lip-outs. No lip-ins, and no missed putts inside of five feet (because all I had was tap-ins left).

I was playing with a guy who said "good shot" if you made contact, and I holed a putt from the rough (after never finding the fairway or the green) for par on the last hole to tie my match with my normal Wednesday opponent Don. But playing with the other fellow, both Don and I were flummoxed all day long.

Give me half the lip-outs (78) and that's about what I'd expect to shoot at a good course I've never seen before.

Last night was a near worst case scenario. I leave tonight for a long weekend of golf 90+ holes in 3 days. I have been playing well, for about 4 weeks. The driver has been solid and my putting has also been good. It has only been the occasional blow up hole that has kept me from shooting some really good rounds.

My big fear was that I would slap the ball around and forget everything I have been doing only to replace it with horrible thoughts of bad golf. Although it was not to that extent, I didn't play well at all. I hit driver 4 times in nine holes and missed 2 high and right and 2 high and left. I didn't put poorly, but at the same time I didn't make anything outside 8 feet. My lag putting was decent and my wedges were fine. I did hit some very good iron shots. I finished with back to back tripples for a +11. Otherwise I was in grind mode and hung in. I just need to hit a couple dozen balls at the range and assume that it was an abberation.

Fortunately, only 90% of the game is in your head. The rest is just mental.

Ouch! I shot a 91 this afternoon. After laying off for 4 days while I went to meetings, I felt very strange over the ball for the first 6 or 7 holes and by that time, I was on my way to a 48 on the front. I finally stopped the bleeding on the back, but it was too late to salvage anything like a respectable score. Tomorrow, I am playing a resort course in Branson, Mo called Ledgestone. It is supposed to be pretty difficult and I know that the customers I am going with will want to play it all the way in the back. He drives the ball around 3 bills, so it will be driver, 4 iron, wedge and 2 putts for me on all the par 4's all day. I will be worn out from that kind of golf.

Well, I played Ledgestone yesterday and what a nice course. It is built in the mountains and there is no where on the course that you can see another hole from the one your are playing. It is very rugged terrain, one of the par 3's was actuall built down in a quarry, fronted by the quarry pond sump. I had a tough time figuring yardages because of all the elevation changes. I didn't play that poorly, shot an 85. We did play off the tips, but it was only 6700 yards from back there. They had the latest carts with the GPS built in to the dashboard. Even had a way to keep score and switch views, etc.

I was hooking the ball with every club in my bag. I really got tired of playing out of the right rough. Yes, I am left handed. I am just glad it was a customer outing because the 4 of us cost $350. God love a company credit card.

i played everyday this week accept monday and teusday shot a 94 and wednesday i just went to the range. Thursday i had a tournement at the course i played teusday and shot a 99. Then went back to the club and played 9 and shot a 47. Friday i played 18 at the club and shot a 97. Really trying to be consistent in the low 90s so i can bring my handicap to a sub 20 and get new irons. thats my goal im setting and if i dont reach it, i dont get new irons.

I played a short public course this morning early and shot 78 from the tips. Met some buddies after lunch and shot 85 on my home course... I wasn't striking the ball all that poorly, I just couldn't make a putt to save my life. If I got 1/2 a stroke credit for lip-outs, I'd have cut 5 strokes off the afternoon round.

I shot 78 today and didn't hit any solid shots. I have no idea where my game is at right now. I need to get back on video and have a look.

Club championship at my home course. Saturday qualifier - came in 3rd with a 77 (1 triple

I'm out of it. Lost semifinal 1down. Kid put a birdie-par-birdie-par streak on 10through 13 to go 3 up with 5 to go... I won 15 and 16 to get it back to down 1, but missed 10ft to win 17th and missed 8ft to win 18th. Hit 14 greens - made 2 birdies and 3jacked it 3 times. This was the WORST by far putting exhibition I had in months

Final score 77 wasn't too bad, but wasn't good enough

Shot a 90 (net 89 -- took a 7 on a par 4) today at Meadows Farms . Definitely my least favorite course in the area, but it was cheap, and i was running errands nearby.

Insanely inconsistent ball striking day -- yanks, slices, tops, fats, pure, striped... anything that can be done to a golf ball, I did. The greens at Meadows Farms were ridiculously slow, too. After playing well-manicured greens like Augustine and Cannon Ridge , I never really adjusted... thus, my worst putting round of the year (36 putts).

I did par an 841 yard par 6 though. And I finished strong with three other consecutive pars, so I had that going for me, which was nice.

"I played like shit." -Greg Norman after the '96 Masters.

I shot a 111 with a 14 (par 4)on the front and a 10(par 5) on the back. I just got off the waitinglist and am a member at my new club, 36 holes anytime I want!!!

I played a five-hole scramble with BAM-BAM. We shot... well, we hosed the last two holes, but we did no worse than even par. I think we were one under. No, two.

More importantly, I fixed something in my swing on the range beforehand. My legs had forgotten that they were supposed to participate in my swing, too.

Shot 83 at my home course last night and had a blow up hole on the back that cost me 4 strokes. I have lost my putting it seems. I am lipping out a ton of them, but nothing is dropping. I can't seem to figure it out. I will pull one and push the next, get the line or speed wrong on the next. I am just a mess and probably need to spend a coupla hundred on a new putter since working on fixing my real problem (me) seems too hard.

    • Good advice.  When you see a golfer taking short steps, looking down at the ground, it's probably checking for temporary water.  There are plenty of cases were just hitting it from the bad lie is better than where you would drop it. Like hitting of a cart path.
    • Yea I find it ridiculous people having an issue that he could drop in the fairway. Every relief situation is its own instance. You re-assess after a drop. Sometimes the drop is in your favor or not.  Too many scramble only golfers commenting on golf rulings. Usually scrambles you need to maintain the same lie if you hit with in a club length of the ball. 😉
    • MSN J. J. Spaun relief from sprinkler head under fire for not being in the spirit of the game. While I understand the advantage he gains by dropping a ball that ended up in rough in the fairway doesn't seem to kosher in lot of people's eyes, but I suspect this happens more often than lot of people realize and players take the entitled relief every time when the opportunity present itself. Not fair to call him out as a person of 'no integrity' IMO.  A lot of people do not know that both fairway and rough are part of the same general area and ROG does not distinguish them as far as relief is concerned.
    • Jack played in 7 tournaments in 1986. He was on his way out. He was not training or trying to be the best in the world. Honestly, he just caught some good golf at the right time.  Who says Jack wasn't battling injuries at that time either? A lot of stuff wasn't reported on until post 2000 in terms of covering athletes.  At what capacity? He can play, but he can't compete at any sort of level for the PGA or Senior Tour.  Yes, most of them walk away.
