Played 2 different 9 hole courses yesterday. 1st one was a regulation course par 36, I ended up with a 46 & am semi-happy even though I completely screwed up the last 2 holes.

2nd course I played last night with my wife is a par 3 & you tee off those horrible practice mats on every hole. Shot a 35 which I am sorta ok with, hit 4 greens with my tee shots & the rest were either just off the side or dead straight but a tiny bit short.

45 Dakota Dunes Front 9 3406 yards (Dense fog for 7 holes)
41 Dakota Dunes Back 9 3409 yards
40 Moon Lake The Moors 3052 yards
40 Moon Lake The Heather 3003 yards
Going out this morning to tackle Dakota Dunes again. That will make 54 holes walking.
These are the best scores with my month old Stack and Tilt and it feels very solid. Had a few braindead shots but basically wasn't trusting myself when I did them. Had a guy that plays every day join up and at the last hole he said. "I wish I could hit the ball high like that!" Unsolicited compliments are nice.

I really think my Cleveland launchers have given me some confidence. Played a 3000 yd par 36 9 hole course in the Dells today, I played it twice & shot a 42 followed that up with a 43. So 85 total against a 72 par has me ecstatic.

I listened to the guy in the pro shop who advised not using driver on every hole & just try to keep the ball in play. Quite a few massive bunkers on the course & I got into a few of them but managed to escape relatively unharmed. Anyways I only used my driver a few times, instead I was hitting 3 & 5 woods off the tees & that tactic worked out great. Short game is not my forte, anytime I need to pitch it on the green from 40-50-60 yds I never know exactly whats going to happen. Instead I utlilized course management so my green approach shots were in the 150 yd range which for some reason seems to be my "can't miss shot".

Hit 10 out of 14 fairways in regulation, had 9 G.I.R's also. Perhaps there actually is something to that whole course management deal afterall?

Well, eh, I shot a 42 on the front nine of Pioneer. Par 34. Drove the ball well. When I'm hitting driver, chip shot on most par 4's you can tell how far my tee balls are going. I chipped pretty good and putting was so-so, but my iron play just...died today. I don't think I hit one good iron or wedge shot (pitch) today...

5/7 fairways, 3/9 greens (ugh!), 19 putts.

Well I won't embaress myself, but I will say my driving came around a bit yesterday. Was driving around 260 and dead straight which is quite the opposite from the last time I played... though I couldn't hit an iron to save my life.

Um... 46 + 42 = 88??

Played a par-3 with my wife yesterday - Shot 31. 6 pars, 2 bogeys, 1 double. Couldn't make a birdie putt to save my life, but made a couple of decent putts to save par.

I'm new to this board, but I thought this would be as good a thread as any to start on. I played both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. Both rounds I shot a 90. I got there two different ways though. On Saturday, I played Tom's Run at Chestnut Ridge in Blairsville, PA. It's a very nice course. On the front nine I shot a 49 due to five penalty strokes on a series of four very tight holes. On the back nine I shot a 41 with four birdie opportunities, but no birdies.

Sunday, I played my regular course, Lindenwood Golf Club in Peters Township, PA. I shot my typical front nine of 46 on the Gold nine and a 44 on the Blue nine. Next week we will play the Red-Gold combo. (My favorite two nines.)

Managed a 39 on one of the worst courses I have EVER played, Copper Club golf course in Magna, Utah.

The greens were like molasses, literally. The fairways were so dry I could have mistaken them for concrete.

I managed 2 birdies, both on par 4s under 350 yards, both tap-ins.

2 Birdies, 5 Bogeys, fairly unexciting round, except for my driving of a 350 yard par 4, carried it about 305 and it just BOUNDED onto the green, solid 2-putt for a birdie.

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
