Shot my best 18 so far - 82. Upland Hills Country Club, in Upland, CA. Blue tees, 68.8/121, 5902 yds. It's kinda narrow but not too difficult. Everything was working well. Birdied #18. Had 2 putts lip out, 3 putted twice, and hit the water once. Otherwise, could have been in the 70's! My handicap is dropping fast. Now trending to 18+

3 under par on 9 holes.

Lipped out a 3 ft par putt and 3 putted the last hole. So I'm happy with the way I played, but not happy with what my score is compared to what it should have been.

Played 9 on the Blue Course at Hyland Hills (35.6/122, 3272 yds., par 36) this morning before work. I shot 44, which is really good for me. I'm starting to play much more consistently finally. I left a lot of shots out there, but that's fine with me - I'll get that tuned in. The consistency is what I'm most happy about with my game right now. 2 pars, 6 bogeys, 1 double. 4 FW, 2 GIR, 19 putts.

And playing first thing in the morning is AWESOME!!! - first time I've gotten out like that before work. I was paired with two other dudes, but they were spraying it all over on the first hole and told me to go play ahead. So, I had the course to myself, and I played in about 1:20. I made it into work by 8:45.

Played an executive 9 hole course, 6 par 3's & 3 par 4's for a total of 30. Shortest hole is 87 yds & the longest is 299 yds. Started horribly & carded a 6 on the 1st hole for a very ugly +3, but then played the final 8 holes at 1 over for a total of 34. Had 2 birdies & 3 pars so it turned out ok. My short game hasn't been a strong suit for me but lately it's starting to come together.

2 under par - 34 - Played decent. Wasn't hitting the ball very close to the hole on my approaches to give myself good looks at birdie, but I managed a couple.

Shot an 89 while evaluating the Everett Golf & Country Club. Pretty nice course, if short. 68.8/123 Par 72 from the Blues.

Second time under 90 ever, both in the last week.

I feel like it's starting to come together....

42 on the front nine of Pioneer. It's only a par 34. I blame my poor play on being sore from lifting weights the day before, and most of my drives were pull-hooks. Lost two balls that way, although I caught a lot of breaks - I must've driven it into the trees five times only to watch it kick back out to the middle of the fairway.

2/7 fairways, 4/9 greens, 19 putts.

Also, it was the first time I walked. Totally exhausted, but well worth it - walking is free, and cart fees have killed my wallet all this summer.

Nice work on the walking. I'm a big proponent of it. Walked 54 holes last weekend, little much, almost 14 miles. 18 holes gets you a little over 4 miles of walking.

Here's some weight math. (Don't let Rory Sabbatini's wife read this or her head might explode) she's not good at math apparently.

Just the walking you'll burn at least an extra 500 calories.
One pound is 3500 calories. To lose a pound a week you need to find a way to burn 500 more calories than you take in for each day. It's easiest to lose the weight if you do it with food / excercise combined as it's like the math problem with 2 trains approaching each other at 100mph, they close the gap twice as fast. Same thing with combining reduced calorie intake with exercise.

Anyway, the round of golf walking would count as a great daily activity to burn those extra calories. Trick is to not load up on the Gatorade, hot dogs and beer!

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

77 at Whispering Woods. Bogey Double on the last two holes, too. I played 17 hard but was dealt a horrible break, and I was still thinking about it on 18. So, pffft. Rookie mistake. Dumb.

Shot a 97 at Bentra Golf Course http://www.bentragolf.co.uk . My first round under 100, so I'm buzzing right now. My putt average was 1.88, which is an astounding drop of at least one stroke from any previous round. I'm still not hitting enough fairways, only 6/14 with my normal error being to miss left. My chipping was a little bit off today, I was over hitting too many wedge shots but I'm learning.

My last individual round was at a new course in the area called Sand Creek Station. I had heard a lot of good things about it, so I thought I would check it out. I've always enjoyed playing new courses. I started out struggling with my driver, so I put it away because of some tight driving holes. I ended up shooting a 70 on the Par 72 course. I think the secret was realizing my struggle early with the driver. In the past, I would have kept hitting the driver because of the long ball ego. But I've learned that being 130 out in the fairway is better than 90 yards out behind a tree. With the 3-wood off the tee, I only miss one fairway. I hit 16 greens in regulation which was the result of hitting a lot of fairways.

Saturday 9/15

41-42=83

Unfortunately my ability to get out on the golf course these days has been sporatic at best. I played solidly on a course that generally gives me trouble (I had a 46 on that front nine the day before). The greens here are huge and sloped quite a bit. I putted very nicely which is ironic considering I've been planning a putter switch. I think it has something to do with the fact I've been messing around with a 2-Ball lately and those putters really make you take it back and through square. It's almost like a nice training aid. Anyways, I hit my irons well, chipped pretty well (although my touch was a bit off on a couple shots) but hit it poorly off the tees. There are quite a few holes on this course that are wide open which I must say did help me a few times. I was fighting a big hook. I went out at around 5:00 ET it was around 65 degrees to start and the course was quiet. Sun was setting during my round... it was nice! I could have shot 100 and been happy out there (Ok, I'm probably lying...)

Teed off when it was 55 degrees. Never got in a rhythm at all. Ugh. But 39 on the back, which wasn't bad.

Shot a 43 on my home course, best score there so far. Had 4 pars which really saved me since I had a really ugly triple bogey on the long par 3. mde 4 G.I.R.'s & those just so happened to be the holes I parred.

Weird thing is it felt like a crummy rd while I was playing it, had some nice 3 wood tee shots & my iron play was good, but once again my lack of a decent chip shot let me down. I guess the more you play & hopefully the better you get, a score in the low 40's just doesn't feel all that special anymore.

Well I went out to my home course today and shot a 76, 39 on the front and 38 on the back, one of my best rounds of golf I have ever had, was hitting my driver around 280, which is really good for me, had a 295 drive on the last par 5 which led to a birdie, I had a really good day.
