I try not to brag very often but I am very excited that my college team just won for the first time in 5 years and I won my first college tournament as a freshman!

We played 5 and counted 4. Our two day total was 297-298=595. The course was a par 70 and I shot 74-72. I was named co-champion along with one of my teammates.

Congrats!

I've been coaching the Division III Penn-State Behrend golf teams this year and we just played (and won) our fifth straight conference championship. When do you play yours, and do you get an automatic bid to the NCAAs in May if you win? Is there a good chance we'll see you in Rochester in 2016?

Good playing, and I know how fun it can be to play D3 golf.

@iacas Occidental is in California so we play mostly in the spring, we only play for a month in the fall. It's a bit different than the Northeast!

Our conference championship is not until April. Our conference (SCIAC) is the most competitive in the country so it is a bit hard to get to the NCAAs. However, if we win I do believe that we get an automatic bid. Last year, 3 teams from our conference made it and hopefully we are now strong enough to compete for a spot in the NCAAs. We have a young, strong freshman class (including me!) and hopefully that will translate into a tournament win or two this year!

 

Top 25 DIII in the country:

Redlands - #3

Claremont McKenna - #8

La Verne - #14

Cal Lutheran - #17

All of those above are from SCIAC... We are hoping to break into the top 25 this year as well

      I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.

      Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
