Thats too bad. I think Brian Phillips is my favorite essay writer alive and I would never have heard of him without Grantland.

They had good stuff. It probably conflicted with the ESPN corporate philosophy on quality.

Sad to see it go, but it did feel somewhat inevitable after they canned Simmons.

Yeah, this is a bummer. Grantland was one of my "daily-read" sites.

I'm interested to see Simmons' next project. Say what you want about the guy, he assembled a fantastic crew of writing talent.
